As soon as u turn it on there is a picture of a hard drive and you cannot do anything else. no buttons work. i believe the program to run the camera has been erased and do not know where to find anything that can run a 3.2 mega pixel cam.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Hello! I have not used my cam as Webcam for many years, but I think all you have to do is connect the cam with PC, move the SELECT NOB / SWITCH on WEBCAM mood and the Windows (XP) will automatically detect NEW HARDWARE (Webcam). Provide the drivers information and files from the disk and you are done.
BTW, its webcam result is not as good as its still picture quality.
Best of Luck

Yes, the first thing you should do - stop taking more pictures with the Sony Cybershot camera memory card if you want to increase chances of data recovery. Then you need to rely on a thrid-party data recovery tool to help.
This site Digital Camera Recovery also lists a few reliable & tested programs for both PC & Mac users. Good luck & Merry Christmas!
