The machine that youare going to play the tape in you should use the video out and the audio out to the video in and audio in on the machine that you are going to record on or tape on which ever you want to call it.

if the vcr tv combo is the one that you are recording with you should be able to put the otherone to the inputs and it work unless there is something wrong with one or the other. Now if the tv vcr combo has a record feature on it then it should work. I do not know what brand you have but it should do it if there is a record button on the remote or set. You could also go from antnia out to antnia in and be able to record that way also.

one more thing if you use the vcr as the play machine you will need to set it up for chanl 3 or 4 then put the tv on 3 or 4 you should beable to see the movie on the tv as you record it.

8mm JVC tapes put into a VHS tape that will play on a combined TV and VCR. Please, please, I need your help! Found tapes from 15 years ago.

You need an 8mm player or the camera that recorded the tapes. Connect the video and audio from the 8mm player/camera to a VHS recorder. Put the 8mm on play and the VHS on record.

I cannot find my manual what is the speed to record on the vcr for 8 hours

Unfortunately, most VCR recorders/tapes don't have an 8 hour option. It is 2 hours on SP (standard), LP for 4 hours or EP (SLP, depending on the unit) for 6 hours. (The slower recording speed usually gives poorer video quality.)

You would need a non-standard VCR cassette to get 8 hour recording. If you do have a tape that would hold 3 hours at SP, then use an EP setting to get 8 hours of recording on your VCR. I don't think I've seen any tapes that do that recording length even when VCRs were popular.

I wish that I had better news.

I have a Sylvania 6240VE vcr. When I try to rewind a recorded tape, the vcr ejects the video. I was wanting to purchase a dvd/vcr combo, but the reviews for these items are awful. I tried a Magnavox combo....

When you put the player into rewind, is it at the beginning of the tape that it ejects? If so, it may be because you have the machine in timer mode. If you have a pre-recorded tape in a VCR, it will automatically eject the tape because you`ve not to record on a pre-recorded tape. I hope this help, Ian

VCR ejecting my cassettes

Try removing the top cover & have a look to see what happens when you put the tape in & press play/rewind etc. Is the take up spool (right hand spool) turning properly or is there slack tape not being taken into the cassette? Are the heads spinning ? I think your problem is more likely to do with the tape not travelling smoothly around the tape path. Possibly the clutch gears need cleaned or the soft brakes may not be dis-engaging properly.

Blank VHS tapes work; Movie VHS tapes don't

Hello statman_4

I have an important question; Are you watching a VHS tape you recorded of another VHS movie? In other words did You rent Ben Hur and record it and then tried to watch the recording? If you did that's your problem. VCRs in the late 1990's (1997-1999) began to employ MacroVision circuitry in all VCRs, and DTR. MacroVision Circuitry makes the VCR record tapes with MacroVision in such a way that the horizontal and vertical sync pulses are not at the proper amplitude, and the AGC (Automatic Gain Control) is tricked into over compensating thus creating the scrambled picture. There is a way around this. You need to buy a video stabilizer SIMA makes such devices and some other companies do to. You feed the signal from your VCR into the unit and it corrects the video image by readjusting the video signal.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

VCR ejects tape when I try to record using the timer facility

Simple. The Cassette's 'Prevent Erasure' tab is missing. Just cover with Scotch tape and reload. Now try recording.

DVD Player/Video Cassette Recorder

Hi It sounds like possibly there is stray RF getting into your video signal from your DVD/VCR combo to your tv. Check that your cables are ok, but also, if you can, try moving the unit in relation to the tv, if it is underneath, try putting it on top or beside the tv, I've seen the effect you describe be cause by lack of sheilding in both the tv and DVD/VCR, and moving the unit could cure it. Good Luck!
