Taking apart gas dryer GE VT850607c

Hello Molly McKellar,

VT850607c... ("model number" No good).

Try watching this instead...

Your model number did NOT resolve to any GE dryer in MY reality (cyber-wisdom)... However I remain confident of my life-long ability to take things APART...

Putting them back together again... Now there's the rub.
(if you takes pictures as you DIS-MANTLE... You'll be OK).
((Lots of pictures)).

Your basic dryers break down into 2 basic groups
(NO... Gas & Electric are amazingly similar)...

It is controls forward... (Like: GFDN160GJWW)
or controls on the back-edge (classic style)).
((against the wall, such as DBXR463PG4ww)

Since the BELT or DRUM ROLLERS about a deep as ONE can get... into (inside) the case... Go to one of the Parts "LINKS"
I will post below...

look up the "PART" & watch the VIDEO associated...

If you do start opening CONNECTORS (repeating again)...

Take pictures and look them over for USEABLE detail in
case yo get interrupted during your dismantle...

BEFORE YOU GET into trouble.

You will know EXACTLY where every wire & clip is supposed to go (back).

Good luck & happy hunting!!

How to take the front of a GE front loading Dryer

Most appliances just have clips that snap into predrilled holes. To take apart just wedge a screwdriver between the sections and carefully pry apart.
To avoid scratching put electrical tape or other protective cover over screwdriver tip to avoid scratching cover.

Remove front panel ge spacemaker dryer

Here's the trick: The Spacemaker dryer is the same as many other GE dryers but is upside down!

1. Unplug the dryer.
2. Flip the dryer upside down so the white panel is now on top and the unfinished steel panel is on the bottom.
3. Remove the 2 screws that connect the bottom, white panel from the back and lift up to remove.
4. Pull off the Settings and Fabric knobs on the front of the dryer. Take off the front control panel (remove the 2 screws).
5. Remove the 2 screws that attach the front panel (located behind the control panel you just removed). Hold the dryer drum by the top edge and pull the front panel away (note that the panel will be hooked to the rest of the dryer at the bottom corners). DO NOT PULL AWAY ENTIRELY!
6. Disconnect the wiring that is attached to the front panel (these come apart easily by hand but you might want to mark the wiring so you know where to connect it when reassembling).

I have a GE DPGT750GC2PL dryer and the drum cracked at the seam? is there a recall for this or am i the 1st? the dryer started to make a thumping noise and when i took it apart i found the drum is coming...

the drum is easy to replace, you need to remove the control panel and the top of the dryer to get the front panel off the dryer. Make any connectors so you know what way to hook them up again just to be safe. After you have all of this apart, relieve the tension on the strap that go's around the drum. Replace the drum and and reinstall everything in reverse. I don't have the link to the repair manual here at work, but I did find it here. Read it over and take you time, it's really not a hard item to replace.

Where are you located, I have a heating problem and if I don't fine the answer to fix it will more then likely toss mine out and could part out the known good parts.

GE Dryer (new) makes noise

few possibilities here, idle pulleys could be wearing, front drum guides could be wearing, back drum bearing, bit early for these problems though, but sometimes coins get lodged at the drum paddles inside located 120degrees apart which wouldnt be anything to worry about if you can verify this, hope this helps

How to get the front panel off GE Profile Harmony

Here's a simple overview of what you have to do:

You actually don't remove the back sir, but that's okay, that's a common misconception for this model dryer. The proper way to disassemble this particular dryer is you start with the top. You have to start with the removal of the control panel, then the top of the dryer. What I would consider the top cover. Then you'll have to remove two plastic brackets. Then you have to remove the front. There's two aluminum brackets in each corner, remove those. Open the door and there'll be two more screws to remove on each side. You have to lift the front just a little and then pull towards you. I forgot to mention, before that part, you'll need to ensure you are disconnecting the electrical wiring. There's almost no chance of connecting the wrong ones even if you forget. GE made this part novice proof. Once you get the front removed, you'll see the lint/trap. There's a couple of screws on either side of the aluminum housing. Not much to it. Let me know if there's anything I can clarify further. Have fun!

lincoln, there should be two clips on each side just below the top. Take a puddy knife and push in on the clips. The front panel should release and pull foward. back.
