Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

My Westinghouse LTV-32 widescreen HDTV has a good stable picture for about 15 minutes of viewing. It then goes into an unstable condition of vertically racing the picture. I can turn the TV off for a while and turn back on, then its okay for about 15 minutes, then repeats the problem

Hi

The first thing you should try is a hard reset. Unplug the tv before going to bed then plug it back in tomorrow the morning( Or about 6 hours). If this doesn't work you have an essential failure which will need repair. The two main causes of the type of problem you are having is either a poor solder connection right on the board where the screens connects to the TV, or the second a faulty HDTV panel. Either way it will need to be attended to by a technician if the reset fails. I recommend checking the warranty information that came with the unit to see if there is any way you can recoup some or all of the cost of a repair which will be needed. Hopefully the manufacturer will take care of it for you if it is within their timeframe.

Please revert for any clarifications.

Thanks
Rylee

Have lost the manual for my 32" hdTV - the picture

A manual can be downloaded from the Westinghouse legacy site;
http://legacywd.com/manuals.aspx

At this site go to the bottom of page to "Archived-2007"
and click on "Select a product"

Here you will click on "LTV-32w1"

On the page you get click on "LTV-32w1" beside the user guide icon.

The instructions for adjusting brightness is on page 15 for picture parameters off the Main Menu.
Its the first icon.

Westinghouse LTV32W6HD. Turned it on and video is

If the picture goes bad after about 15~30 minutes, then more likely to be bad LCD controller bd. See sample of the failed LTV-32W3HD here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/LTV-32W3HD/

Parts: http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/index/?q=LTV-32W6HD&limit=200

You can try running the TV with the back open with a small fan blowing in the back to keep it cool just to verify that it is heat related.
