check if the laptop has wireless utility other than the built in windows wireless. (example intel proset wireless). if yes, uninstall the wireless utility and Update the wireless driver of your laptop by downloading the latest driver from ho web site.
Your device should have an in-built 56k modem, which you can plug a phone line into to get dial-up internet. However, that's a slow and painful way to use the internet.
More practical, but still difficult, would be to trawl IT retailers or eBay for PCMCIA network cards. You can obtain cards with physical ethernet ports, wireless cards, or various other networking interface. PCMCIA cards are also being phased out, so they could be tricky to find, but that would definitely be the best method.
You could download Belarc Advisor, which will tell you a lot about your computer and the hardware that it is using, including your wireless card type. Download and install the appropriate driver from that site and install it and reboot. Hope this helps:)
I would suggest downloading Mozilla Firefox on another computer, putting it on a flash drive or burn a cd, then install on your laptop.
After running mozilla it will ask to make it default browser, click yes, be careful how you respond when it asks you to import from internet explorer. if you import everything it may import security settings.
the only other thing to do is if you give me your e-mail address I can send you a program to remove the password
Are you sure you used the charger with the exact specifications?
I once encountered a problem like this... try removing the battery and replacing it after some 5-10 minutes. It worked for me. If it doesn't, try whether it would work only on main AC with no battery inside what-so-ever. Then - try with it.
Oh, and no, laptops - to my knowledge - do not have fuses... at least those 4-5 I opened didn't.
Hope this helps. I'll post up if anything else comes to mind...
