Are you getting anything at all on the screen or just a green light on the front of the PC?
IF the drive was removed make sure that the ribbon cable was not reattached with pin 1 on the pin 40 position, try turning the cable over 180 degrees and power back on, you will also have to reset the intrusion detection

There is an issue with a fulty RAM module. Open up the case and remove one of the RAM modules. try restarting. If that doesn't work, put the one that you took out back in, and remove the other one. If that works, then you need to buy a new module to replace the one that was bad

Hi,
the constant Green, states that the motherboard is getting Power.
The red/yellow would possibly suggest, that the ethernet port has a fault or possible corruption.
Solution:- remove the Power Lead from the Computer Case.
Remove side panel. take out any ethernet-Cable from the rear.
Locate the CMOS battery, round silver Battery on The motherboard.
For 10 seconds, this should reset The bios, to it,s original Default Settings. Replace Battery, side Panel. And power Lead.
You could also try This. Boot with Hard-drive power Cable Disconnected ( this will Eliminate HD Fault ) same for CD/DVD drive et,c.

Dell Dimension 5100, Doesn't Boot Up, Display Lights Up "!, 2 3"

2 green lights usually indicate a memory problem, however, when you get 3 lights, RAM is good, but the BIOS is unable to hand off to the operating system.

To test this, disconnect your hard drive (both ribbon and power) and connect the monitor. See if you get a display. If you get a display, try carefully reseating the cables to the hard drive and also to the motherboard.

If you lose the display again, disconnect the hard drive and connect your DVD/CD and put in a Windows or diagnostic CD to see if it will boot.

If it does, you have a bad hard drive.

Let me know if this helps or you have other questions.

sounds like something is drawing down on your 12 volt supply drives or on board regulators. Try it without the drives connectged, and see if you can get the system to boot up(you'll just get a notice that your drives are unavailable, but you'll already know that, right?

No power to my dell dimension 4550

It might be a couple of things bad powersupply or power button incorrect ram module or hard drive settings ,if not then lastly have a bad motherboard which we all hate. you said you have a a green light on motherboard? Did you upgrade or install any new ram ,harddrives etc check make sure they are seated properly in their sockets and free from dust check connection on the ram module make sure it shinny brass color if not you can use an eraser to clean them. If you have upgraded check make sure the ram is compatible to your machine sometimes the wrong ram install can cause no power up problem. Do you have four green lights in the back of machine? Dell new desktop has 4 green light in back of the unit . if all four light are green then system is ok but one out of the four light are orange then you have a problem. You can go onto dell web sight for your machine to check out these lights codes. I hope this help you out some.
