Hi:

Sometimes small portable typewriters like that have a locking lever located on the side of the carrier. The carrier is the unit that has the printwheel in it. Look on the right side of the carrier and see if there is some type of locking lever that can be released.

Changers are notorious items to have failure- that is why most Technicians have high end single well decks. There is no secret way to fix changers. You need to get the service manual to know where and how the parts go into the unit and then get into the transport of the unit to restore that parts into position. In my experience with plastic part changers, they do not stay in the correct shape and parts work out of reference which result in jam ups and further problems down the way. Most of my work was done in CD changers but I did a few cassette changers and they are all disasters designs.

Will not reverse play on deck 2-just goes very fast on this

This condition, regardless of which way the tape is moving, is caused by the failure of a rubber pinch-roller to trap the tape between capstan and the passive roller. The speed is then caused by the part of the drive driven by a small belt and a clutch that should only keep a small amount of tension on the tape in ensure clean rewinding of the tape after it has passed the head.
Lubricant in part of the transport's moving parts or a dried-out rubber roller may be causing this.If you want to try to clean the pinch roller, don't use alcohol since this can further harden the robber.Use a clean fiber-free cloth or paper towel wetted with a LITTLE naphtha and turn the roller on the wetted area. If you get some dark smudging, the treatment is working.

The ribbon will not index forward on my 345 DLE. It appears that the shaft that inserts into the cassett does not turn to move the ribbon.

if the knob on the ribbon cartridge doesn't move the ribbon when you turn the knob the direction of the arrow (on the cartridge next to the knob) you need a new ribbon

Pedals and chain turn but back wheel doesn;t move.

With a small correction to the punctuation your question goes into a search engine verbatim and finds lots of guidance.

"Pedals and chain turn but back wheel doesn't move"

WE can't see what you can see and playing 20-questions only wastes everybody's time when the problem is physical or mechanical so from here you should do some Web Searching and connect the logical dots that match your exact symptoms.

Wild guess: The cassette/freewheel could have the pawls stuck in a disengaged position.

Search engine queries starting with "how to..." usually turn up answers, too.

This can also be caused when the upper cassette tray (for small paper stock / photo paper) becomes detached from the lower tray. There is a gear attached to the lower paper tray which handles movement of the upper paper tray. Make sure that moving this gear causes the upper paper tray to move. If it doesn't, then you need to snap the upper paper try on a little better.

Check for the following problems with these pool cleaners. Check diaphragm for blockage or damage. Adjust a worn diaphragm by loosening cassette swivel, gently pushing down on inner pipe, and retightening cassette swivel. You will probably need to replace the diaphragm if that doesn't work.

How to change the correction tape?

Changing the Correction Tape

1) Move the print carrier to the center of the platen using the SPACE or BS key.

2) To replace the correction tape, lift out the typing ribbon cassette (see Changing The Ribbon Cassette) and remove the two spools of the lift off tape by pulling them outwards.

3) Place the empty spool of new tape on the left pin so that the tape winds clockwise. Place the tape around the left guide. Pull the tape around the right

guide and place the loaded spool on the right pin so that the tape unwinds counter-clockwise.

Note: Make sure the sticky side of the tape is facing the platen.

4) Manually turn the left-hand spool in the clockwise direction, tightening the tape until resistance is felt.

5) Replace the typing ribbon cassette.
6) Press the CODE + = (SETTING) key.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.
