There is no cover, however. The "bulb" is recessed.

Hello, does your remote have a plastic cover over the LED (thing that send the signal at the top) or can you see it sticking out of it?

I have read some articles of people putting a reflective material like foil behind that bulb which is supposed increase the range. You would want to make sure that if you were to try that it would not touch the contacts on the LED/Bulb, Also try to extend the bulb out further if possible.

Yes, most likely the sensor is at fault - more precisely it's connections to the motherboard are iffy. You must take the back cover off the tv and reseat them. While you are there check their soldering points - with age they tend to melt and get loose.

My remote wont work

Make sure there isn't corrosion on the battery terminals. Try cleaning the battery terminals. Batteries left for a long time in one device will leak and corrode the terminals so even with new batteries the remote might not work. New batteries usually help too LOL !! Good Luck!

Remote control

Try installing a pair of new alkaline batteries into the remote. If the problem persists, I would suspect the remote is defective and return it to the store for a refund. I have used Philips remotes twice before, and had problems with both of them. I switched to a One-for-All universal remote, and it has been trouble-free, so far.

I'm going to assume that this is a relatively new set and that hte warranty is still in effect. Request warranty service, this symptom suggests either a logic problem in the microprocessor or perhaps just a power supply problem. In either case, this will not be an easy problem to find. One thing that would help is to see if there is any pattern to when this occurs. For example, doe sthe set need to be on for a long time before this shows up? Any info along that line will be helpful to the servicer.

Keep us posted.
