I have the Fisher Price Cool School computer. The laptop we are using had to be completely wiped out and restored. Now, since I've reloaded the Cool School software, it won't play in full screen. Upon starting the software, the screen condenses. When exiting the software, it returns to a full Windows screen. We are using Windows XP. I don't want my son to have to play his games in a 4X6 screen. Thanks!

SOURCE: i am trying to uninstall my fisher price cool

you need to do a RUN command

run; 'regedit'

'hkey' files will appear, you need to go into two of them and find the fisherprice folder in the SOFTWARE folders.

be carefull not to delete anything else.lol

you will fint the 'SOFTWARE' folder in;
hkey_current_user &
hkey_local_machine

just delete fisherprice..

once thats done go into the programs folder in the local disk (c drive)
delete the fisherprice folder from here too.

done! thats how to manually uninstall software.

I cant get the fisherprice IXL software to work on my computer

I was having same problem, trying to install initial software from CD, I kept getting error messages that said to contact Fisher-Price for support. I searched for a while and finally found the mfg. website (Mattel) and download the most up-to-date version from the website... here's the link: http://service.mattel.com/us/technicalproductdetail.aspx?prodno=R9703&siteid=27&catid=520

Once downloaded it installed on my computer without error and all is well...

I have to do the firmware upgrade to reload the fisher price ixl software on the system and it will not work. Does anyone have a link for the file so I can manually download?

Sorry I don't have a solution but I am having the exact issue as you. I have emailed the mattel corporate office as I have not been able to get through to the consumer relations department.

If I find a solution I will post it here.

Unable to load add-on software to Computer Cool School

I have found out more about this program. The Australian version of this product is an old version and the UK version. The Add-ons from the USA are for a different US version of the base software. I am unsure if you are familiar with the concept of the computer registry, the central repository for all your settings, when you install Cool school it creates many entries and lists them under folders called "uk". The US add-ons can't find the "US" folder it expects and hence falsely believes the software is not installed. I accidently fixed this by replacing my base install disk with a US one. Best bet it to by Aussie add-ons (from "Toys r us" etc). If you have invested heavily in the US disks, there might be a solution however, the Aussie addon's, should you purchase them, will then not work.

I have the fisher price cool school computer but the disk to install it broke how can i get a new one or is there a web site i can go to to install it it the disk that came with the computer

I would first try and find the website for your game ( I did not have the full name of the game) and see if you could download what ever you need.

Or I would try and contact the company by phone( there should be a number on your game case) and ask for an Installation disk.

Hope this helps.

Need start up disk

They do not post links to most of their software. Go to http://service.mattel.com/us/ContactUs.aspx and post what disk you are missing and they should post a link for you. Good luck.

Mac compatible computer cool school???

If you have a modern (Intel) Mac running Leopard, you can use BootCamp, which is on your computer, to install Windows XP or Vista on your computer in a separate partition and run the software there. Other options that are a little simpler include using Darwine, a program that can run *some* Windows applications on Mac. The easiest solution would be to return the product to the store, because these companies are unlikely to ever produce a Mac client for your product.
