Odds are good your computer is quite dirty on the inside. If you have never opened the computer I suggest you simply buy a new one, to save time and frustration.

But since you are here, this is what to look for:
Dirty inside - Open the computer and blow all the dust out. Use DRY air.
Power supply - if you have power but no lights on your motherboard anywhere, check your computer's power supply. This may mean removing it and testing in a different computer or using a multi-meter and something to turn it on.
Power switch - Perhaps your switch is simply worn out. Open the computer and follow the wires from the button to the motherboard. Remove the connection and short those two pins for a moment. If your switch is bad, your computer should now be booting up.
Hard drive failure - If you mean will not boot when you say "will never turn on" your hard drive may have failed. If this is the case you can simply replace the hard drive. BUT, you will have to re-install all of your programs AND your operating system. Better to simply buy a new computer if that is the case, unless you have all of your original disks and a fast internet connection.

How to replace the integrated ATI Radeon Xpress 200 in Compaq Presario SR1834nx

If the video card is in a pci slot: Just turn off the computer, remove the power card, remove the case. Turn the computer on it's side and there will either be a screw that holds the card in place or a latch with a screw on the back of the computer that hold it. Once you remove what is holding it in the slot simply lift the video card out of the slot.

If the video card is on board then you can still insert another one in the pci slot.

I have a compaq presario 7470 PC which currently has windows 98, Iwant to know how can i update it with windows 7 and how muche it'll cost?

Generally the specs for Windows XP machines are good enough for upgrading to Windows 7 without too much cost.

But, Windows 98 was a bit further back in the history of Windows.

You can go to Microsoft.com and use an upgrade advisor to see if Windows 7 will work on your machine.

And, they'll tell you the cost.

I need 2 get the tower apart. i have a Compaq Presario 7470 PC... & i cant get in 2 add a hard drive

look on the very back of the tower, you will see some screws on the left, top and right hand side of the tower. Take all the back screws out and then you should be able to remove the gray cover, it comes off in one piece and then you can go ahead and add a hard drive.

Pc start-up failure

It could be overheating. Make sure all the components and fans inside the tower a clean of dust. Get a can of compressed air and blow all the dust out. You could also try removing and re-seating all your pc cards, memory sticks and cables.

Presairo f504eu will not connect to internet via wireless .will not switch on have reset pc updated drivers wirless assistant will not open changed broadcom card for new still not working HELP

This is a problem with most Compaq Laptops in the F500 series, and as such, HP has extended their warranty on all affected models, so you should contact them and they should repair it free of charge with 1-2 weeks. If you bought it from a high-street retailer, such as PC World, then you should take it to them and they should be aware of the situation and repair it for you.

Laptop keeps turning off and DVD-CD-RW Rom won't work.

The turning off problem may be a memory problem, download and run a memory checker (memtest 1.7 or later) it may also be a virus problem
ensure your virus checker is up to date and run a full scan, these would be a first step to try and solve these issues.

good luck
