Question about Acer TravelMate 290 Notebook

HP 7410 shuts down

I have an HP 7410 All in One, and it continully shuts down by itself, goes into what looks like a sleep mode first, then just turns off. When I press the "on" button, it won't start up. I switch the plug into a new outlet in my wall-mounted surge protector, and then it will boot up. When it happens again, I switch it back to the original outlet, and it boots up once again. I have 3 other devices plugged into this 6 outlet surge protector, and everything else works fine. Any ideas as to why this would happen and what a fix would be?

I would say about 12-15 hours. I've never actually timed it....just know it does take awhile. I'll use it one day, and it's usually down the next.

    Overheating

Basically every computer and laptop has a processor inside

That processor gets extremely hot when on however there

Is a heat sink with fan which cools it at all times.

Over the years dust builds up around the fan and heat sink

And blocks the air vents preventing cool air from coming

In and out. This causes the processor to overheat and

The reason why it’s shutting is because your laptop

Is doing so automatically to protect it.

To sort this out, you should switch off your pc or laptop

Remove the cover and access the heatsink and fan

It will need to be cleaned with a brush or an air-can

Properly and once this is done air should go in and

    Out easily without overheating.

It is also recommended to add thermal paste

To the top of the processor however

You’ll need to remove the heat sink completely

For that. Making sure it is applies 100% back

    On the processor.

Overheating is serious and must be taken care of

Asap. Here’s a link to a tool you can download and

Install to monitor your computers temperature

    Download SpeedFan 4.37. free.

How do I disable sleep mode on my IBM R52 laptop?

This will probably be in the BIOS, when your pc first starts, press the delete button, this will take you to the bios, have a look around till you find it, to go out of a page press escape, when you have turned sleep mode off press F10 to save and exit.
Or when you turn your PC off , select shut down, not sleep, thats easier :)

Basically removing power is all you have to do to reset the printer. However, if you need any other information, here is the link to HP for your printer: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=391194&

Monitor going to sleep

juanmgerman0, Connect SDM-X82 to known-good pc that has all sleep mode, power-save mode disabled. (turned-off) If unit still goes to black screen mode, then look at the "date of Manufacture" on rear of unit and let me know if you see "2002 -2004" as the year produced. Retrevo lists unit as "time to retire". Power supply may be going into shut-down mode having detected a problem with itself or the CCFL inverter circuit. 12fixlouie

L1910 Monitor: goes to sleep when turned on...

It may have gone into shut down mode becuase it sensing problem. Try it on another PC, check VGA cable.
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My hp2009m monitor goes into sleep mode

Monitors are programmed to go to sleep when there is no input. If you shut it down on the other "tower" also it will do the same. You need to physically hit the power button on the monitor to actually shut it off.

LAPTOP WILL NOT COME OUT OF 'SLEEP' MODE

Turn it on, then wait, u will hear the computer turning itself on and off, but nothing is showing on the screen. so make it turn on and off, 3 time.( such as hearing the computer turned off, so that one,THEN IT TURNS ITSELF ON AGAIN, next time it turns off, that count as 2, and so on). on the third shut off then u press and hold the off button, to force it to shut down, then wait. about 5-10min., or less then 5. after then u turn the computer on.it should be on by now. if not try it again. if it happens again try one more time, if it happens again. then there something really wrong with your computer.

Try this partial soltion; it's worked for nearly everone who's tried it. Unfortunantly, you lose your wireless capabilities, but at leat you're not left with a $500 paper weight:

No DVi input, then computer goes to sleep

Hi publicworker,

I had a similar problem whereas my monitor went to sleep mode after a few minutes. I'm running an HP LP 2065 in dual mode with another HP flat screen. However, I did resolve the issue after resetting the output settings.

How to do that:
  • right mouse click on the desktop
  • select graphic options
  • output to
  • extended desktop
Maybe some changings/modification will help you too.
