Philips is notorious for bad picture tubes. especially the blue. occasionally the coolant leaks out of a tube but this usually causes bigger problems than color change cause it shorts out whatever it leaks onto.

The color is extremly messed up...peoples skin is redish and the green is like a neon color? How do I adjust the color frm the back of the tv?

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

The color on my tv is awful. sometines it can be bright blue sometimes orange then most times very dull in color

Projection TV sets have two common problems. The first is known as a convergence problem. Common symptoms are....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
The other common problem is cloudy CRT fluid in the lens.

Common Symptoms - you TV may have one or more of these...
  • Dull Video
  • Bright video - whiteish
  • Redish video
  • Halos around objects

Color washed out

If the tv has a blue haze and the picture is turning greenish-redish, the problem is that the coolant in the crt's are cloudy due to bacterial growth. The fluid needs changed in the Blue and possibly Green tubes, the red tube usaly does not need the fluid change because the bacteria that seems to inabit the tubes dont seem to like the red light.

To do this yourself is involved and will expose you to electric shock dangers. If you want to tackle this yourself Post back and i can give you explisit instructions.

This service by a Technican could cost around $300.00 to preform, this cost can vary depending on the shop.

convergence i.c.s change both of them even if only one color is out. if one is bad the other is usually going to give out soon. the part # should be. stk 392-120. also check resistors around i.c.s if the open you wont be able to adjust convergence.

sounds like your cooling fluids in the tubes needs to be changed. Repairman told me it was common on the philips.

Replaced ic on philips you told me about which resitors are 6.8 ohm ....

your model is 55PP9352/17 correct? If so all the resistors from R3149 - R3160 are all 6.8Ohm 1watt 5% tolerance. metal film resistors. The resistors in your upper pic 3157 and 3158 appear to be open by looking at the pic I cant actually make out the banding colors to determine what rating they are. But if your set is a 55PP9352/17 they should be 6.8 ohm. let me know the actual color of the bands in order and I will post the ratings of 3157 &3158
