Sadly if a vacuum cleaner has a sensor plate that senses if a room or floor surface is dirty, it will have a sensor plate built in. Check to see if this is possible to gain entry into the Kenmore - I doubt it - but it would have to be cleaned in order for it to be used again. Usually sensors are gimicks when it comes to cleaning up dust. If the vacuum won't function because the sensor plate isn't working, it would have to be repaired by someone who deals with Kenmore.

Do my Dirt Devil have a restart button it just stop running

Hi! No the vacuum doesn't have a restart button, but it does have a thermal protector that will shut the vacuum down when it is overheated. If your dirt cup was too full this will activate the thermal protector sensor. Clogs and dirty filters can cause this as well. We recommend emptying the dirt cup, tapping out the filter and checking the hose for clogs. The vacuum will come back on usually within 45 minutes to an hour. Hope this helps. Hoover - Red Light Dirt Sensor

check to make sure the settings didn't get inadvertently switched to the hi position, move the switch back and forth from high to reg a few times, then leave it on reg.

remove and hand wash the primary filter and secondary filter, dry throughly and replace them in the vacuum.

if none of this works, you will need to have the vacuum serviced, or if it is still working, just don't pay attention to the dirt-finder. the dirt sensor on your vacuum is located in the suction tube and is generally not accessible enough to clean without taking the vacuum apart.

hope this helps,

Where is the "dirt sensor" in the upright

If you look at the rear of the machine you will see where the hose attaches to it's fitting. At the bottom of the hose connector you will see a "bump". This is where the dirt sensor microphone is located. To cure a sensor stuck on red, remove the entire rear panel, and you will see the mike. Push around it's edges with a small screwdriver to firmly seat it, and your sensor should work properly. It may not seem as if you're doing anything, but it usually works.

IRobot Roomba Dirt Dog sounds weak and stops

Generally the unit will beep or play the "uh-oh" tone or do something. I wish I could tell you what's going on with this Dirt Dog, but it's not communicating the problem. The best thing to do would be to give us a call when you have the robot with you. That will enable us to do any necessary troubleshooting as well as set up any orders that might be necessary. Roomba works but the dirt stops at the filter. New filter did not help.

The robot dirt tray has a vacuum motor to assist the dirt flow from the floor brushes. Yours is not working. recheck the connections on the dirt tray.

Dirt finder sensor stopped working

I had the same problem with a hoover windtunnel 6200 - u5477-900. I removed the flexible hose from top of the plastic tube running vertically along the right side of the back of the vacuum. When I used a flashlight to look into the plastic tube, I could see a clog at the bottom, where the flexible hose curved frontwards towards the brushes. I then removed the 2 screws holding the vertical plastic tube to the vacuum. When I disconnected the plastic tube from the flexible hose at the bottom, I found a clog of dirt and dog hair. After removing the clog and reassembling, the clean / dirty light now moves back and forth from red to green.

Problem with my dirt devil bagles upright

Sounds like you have a clog. Either in the hose, and down below where the inlet is. I assume your brush roll is working, if not you may need a new belt.
