Question about Toshiba Televison & Video
Recently, the horizontal width on my TV has become unstable, ''flickering'' in and out, as if the horizontal was starting to (but not completely) collapsing. The vertical seems rock solid. Removing the plugs to the convergence yokes made no difference in the unstability making me think the problem is either in the power supply or the horizontal drive.
Here's an oddball, but if you have some thing similar, hopefully helpful. The problem turned out to be the focus anode (coming out of the flyback, going to the focus block) had broken loose enough to start arcing inside the flyback. Gently pulling the wire out of the flyback, clipping, stripping and tinning the end, and gently pushing the tinned lead back in until it locked proved to be the answer.
