How to add 8gb memory card in sandisk sansa e270

I bought the sansa e270 (6gb hard disk space). I checked the firmware of the player in the settings, and the number is 01.00.12A.
I thought I would be able to increase the memory by adding memory card in the player. But I came to know that it will only accept 2 gb memory card.
I want to add 8 gb memory card in my player.
Can you please let me know if it is possible . if yes then please let me know the procedure also.

    Hi Tekmekanik,

Thanks for the solution. I have not done it yet. I have few questions if you can please reply those

    1) Can I install Rockbox 3.1 to my sansa plaver. I mean no need to istall 3.0 version first and then upgrade it to 3.1.

    2) Would there be any change to my other programs (fm , voice recording , picture viewer) after installing rockbox.

You have a v1 unit and the maximum is 2GB MicroSD unless you install a different firmware called Rockbox. Then you can load the MicroSDHC cards in your computer and play them in the Sansa.

When you download the new firmware for your sansa, it will be version 3.1. The Rockbox firmware won't overwrite your existing firmware, you will be able to switch between the two.

Here are some pages to help with your installation:

You should buy a card reader for your SDHC card. The Sandisk firmware used for USB connection will only allow 2GB at a time, You will have to re-boot the sansa and transfer another 2GB every time you want to change music on the player.

BTW have fun with the rockbox firmware, you can put DOOM on it.

I added a 2gb mirco SD card to my Sansa e270 6.0gb player, but the memory is still only showing 10mb of the original 6.0 gb available for use. How do I get the Sansa to recognize and use the 2 gb mirco SD...

Hi,when you purchase a new micro SD card before use, youwill need to format the memory card so that you will be able to know the actual size of the Micro SD card by checking the details after formatting it.

After formatting the micro SD card and checking the details, if you still do not see the accurate size which is about 1.88mb or the about, that means the micro SD card you bought needs to be replaced. Not a good one.

Have a nice day.

Does the Sandisk Sansa E270 support the use of SDHC memory cards or does it only support SD memory cards?

Neither. It only supports microSD cards. It does not support microSDHC cards either.

E270 (6GB) not working

Sounds like the problem I had. I followed the instructions for "Load image failed" appears after updating e200 firmware". It's item #3 in the list.

I found the necessary files in the forum (my Sansa is the e270 v1). The files can be found here:

I hope this helps.

Can an 8GB microSDHC card be used in my Sansa Fuze 4GB mp3 player

Actually, it sounds as if the card is working. The more you have on the card, the more free internal memory you'll need so it can build its media database. Remove the card, then delete some files from the internal memory to free up space. Then reinsert the card.

Getting to recovery mode

You have to Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from Sandisk's website first. Then, disconnect the Sansa from the computer, press and hold in the REC button, and then reconnect the Sansa while holding the REC button.

Sansa e270 freezes when USB cable disconnected

Reformat the whole thing with Rockbox. That's the whole point with buying the Sansa, as far as I understand.
