You should always connect with HDMI when using and decoding HD sound formats. If you use the normal digital option it will use PCM. Also check if your source is set to HD formats via HDMI connections.

I imagine your FM and any other sources suffer from the same lack of a front speaker function.

Only get low volume out of sbr and sr speakers.

Without knowing what your speaker arrangement is I could not give any definite answer, but it could be caused by using speakers of differing efficiencies or impedance.

With my RX-V663 can I use presence speakers less than 8 ohms?

Basically you can use any speaker as long as you use the volume button wisely. Damage will only occur if you raise the volume level to the extremes. Bigger speakers should be no problem, if you want bi-amping, your speakers should support that as well.

Front speakers no sound!

Most likely you have pressed the speaker AB switch, try pressing it again and see if it works.

Cannot get yamaha rx-v663 to play DDTrueHD or DTS HD audio

If your Blu-Ray player has TrueHD or DTS-MA decoding, then it will send a already-decoded audio signal to your receiver. The receiver should then just recognize this as "Straight" decoding, because it isn't actually doing any decoding.

Hope this helps.

Yamaha RX-V663 - HDMI doesn't work.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a workaround:
  • as you posted, audio out of the DVD goes to the receiver;
  • HDMI out of the DVD goes to the Schaub Lorenz LCD.
Even if it were a compatibility issue or HDMI processor issue on the receiver, the above should get you going.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.
