You can have Optical Jack form any defective receiver in local repair shop as these are similar in receivers.

Replacing the optical jack will also need re soldering.

If I well understood you need to replace the optical input socket on your Onkyo receiver.

The replacing of the jack will need resoldering, and also you replace the whole input board instead of the single jack.

I suggest contacting onkyo to have your warranty validated or to contact an authorized repair: Contact Onkyo Support | Customer Support | Onkyo USA.

If you are a repairer just order the input board from Onkyo and replace it.

In the meanwhile you can try using a different cable to connect to your unit.

How do i hook up mt audio speakers to my tv for surround sound? klh 403

Hi,
If I understand correctly form your question, you can not hook them unless your TV has 5.1 surround sound amplifier built in...Does it ? I doubt so..
in order to get a surround sound from your TV you need a 5.1 /7.1 DVD/Receiver and you can connect your TV to listen it thru Receiver ..Here is how you can do it..

** connect "Audio Output " as either :"2xRCA jacks"or "Optic cable output" or "HDMI "connector " of your TV ,
** to "RCA input jacks " or "Optic Cable input"
or if you have "HDMI input" of your DVD/ Receiver
** than just switch to respective mode on
Receiver corresponding the connector you have used on the back of Receiver ..

There you go..your Tv sound are on the
DVD/receiver as SURROUNDING SOUND .
By this means ,whatever you watch on the TV
will come thru your
Receiver

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.

I connected my receiver to my hdmi dvd player and ps3. I am able to get a video connection however there is no audio. I have connected evrything via HDMI. Also, I ran all the troubleshoots mentioned in the...

Hi,
You are not alone...Sometimes HDMI connections fail to provide Audio on some equipment ...
You should carry Audio separately with a RCA cable..
OR without HDMI ,you can make the following connections:
** you need to connect "Audio Output " RCA jacks or "Optic cable output" of your DVD
** to "AUX input " or "DVD " OR "Any input" of your receiver ( except Phone ) or "Optic Cable input"
** than just switch to respective mode on
RECEIVER corresponding your RCA or Optic connection...
There you go..Both DVD sound and Video are on the
Receiver..

Hope this helps!..if more help requires pls let me know.

How do you connect it with the cd player because its on but i cant get sound. I have a jvc ax-f350 receiver i want to connect with an xl-r252

Hi,
your receiver has "CD input" RCA jacks (red/white) or "Optic cable input" at the back..
and your CD player has the similar RCA jacks and "optic" as well on the back too..

All you need to connect either of it to each other and make a selection on the control of the receiver as "CD" ..than you must have the sound...unless your cable is broken or jacks not properly push all the way into female RCA jacks..

Dont have my manual. i can't get am reception and it was good before. am reception is fine. also have a new lg led tv and the only audio coming out of the tv is an optic one, my onkyo tx-8511 does not have...

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

As far as the TV audio goes... unless it is the primary source of the audio (tuned through its own antenna and available no where else) why don't you just run the actual primary source's (cable/sat, whatever) best digital audio straight to the Onkyo and skip the middleman that adds nothing to it but expensive unnecessary cable hops.

I'd also run each video sources absolute best video straight to the TV for the same reason.

Required to be service and dvd not working

Please try to put in an ordinary audio CD track and see if this is detected. If yes the optical is working, if not there is no laser scanning and the possibility of the head being faulty is high.
Cleaning manually the laser head eye with a cotton bud very gently and without press the lens eye.
If there is still no result then watch the CD if it spins or tries to spin. If the head unit moves up or down to focus or in and out of the drive, if so the board seems to work correctly and the possibility of the optical head being the suspected fault is closer.
The optical head must be replaced after an estimate is taken, decide accordingly.
