The back closes on it and shoves it forward. It prevents the lamp and set from working with rear cover removed.

THERMAL FUSE replacement

You will need to remove the back to get at the lamp housing from the inside to see it, its a bit tricky as it involves removing some pieces to get at the fuse and maybe just lifting the light engine assembly.
To access the tremal fuse you hve to remove the following item.

1. Remove rear cover
2. Remove Sub-woofer speaker box (not needed for A20 models)
3. Remove metal backing plate.
4. Remove Exhaust fan
5. Remove Optical Block screws

6. Remove Open thermal fuse.
7. Install new Thermal Fuse
I have added a video wich will help you access the tremal fuse. Its a different model may be help you.

Also added picture of connector which gose to the thermal fuse.

My samsung television keeps shutting off

Your television keeps shutting down to protect itself from interal damage. What is happening is that one of the fans on the inside of the television are faulty and it is either spinning than stopping or not getting the required power that it needs to spin or its getting the required power but the fan is faulty. Fans are usually around $25 dollars and are fairly easy to replace as a consumer. The other problem that you may have is that on the top of your lamp housing you have a thermostat. You will know that it is the thermostat because you will see two individual wires go to it and there will be a connector that is plugged into a very tiny circuit board which will be labled thermostat sensor. Order the sensor because they are usually around $5. when you recieve the thermostat you will have to desolder and sodler the new thermostat unto the thermostat sensor board. I recommend changing out all three items your lamp cooling fan, the DMD board fan adn the thermostat. You will save yourself hundreds of dollars rather than bringing your televison to a technician such as myself and it will only cost you about $75 to fix total. The only reason I recommend changin all three items out is because you will already have your televison apart, might as well replace all three items to save yourself shipping costs and make sure your problem is fixed before putting it back together. The lamp cooling fan is inside the house on the right side, actually mounted to the front right on the lamp housing. In order to complete the procedure disconnect the DVI cable from the left side (not the DMD Board), disconnect the top two wire from the left side of the DMD board, and disconnnect the ballast wire. Remove the two screws holding the circuit tray in place and sometime there is also a bracket on the right side.

Tv shut off itself red light blinks 6 times. will not turn back on

In most cases, your set has an open Thermal Fuse. I don't have a parts list handy, otherwise I would give it to you for reference as you shop for it.

It's not labor intensive at all to do. In fact, it's pretty straight forward as, if my clouded mind can recall, the thermal fuse in this set sits directly next to the light engine and right under the lamp housing.

You could do some research at or a similar site for your set's model # and the keyword of "thermal fuse."

However, once that thermal fuse goes in, you should be back up and running.

You will also want to check all fans in the set while you're there to make sure you don't have any clogged fans. Clogged fans can cause the set to overheat, and scenarios that involve overheating can lead to thermal fuses blowing again and again.

Best of luck.

My picture when out and the green light came on the front labled lamp. i replaced the lamp and it is doing the same

Make sure you replace the door to lamp back on the set, as the unit will not work if the door is not reinstalled. This is a safety feature.
Make sure you reinstall it correctly and securely. If this still does not work, then you might consider replacing the ballast also. It is the usually called the lamp driver. Its used to light the lamp. When you cut on the set listen closely near the lamp housing for slight clicking sounds, this is an indication the ballast is trying to iginite the lamp and that its ok..

Lamp location

No, that was wrong advice. On this model, there is a large door on the right side (as you face the screen) of the TV at the bottom. Remove several screws to take the cover off. Inside, looking along the back of the TV (not toward the screen), you'll see what looks like a wire bail (handle) on a square inset piece about 3 inches square. Remove the screws and pull on the wire bail and the lamp housing will come out with the lamp contained inside. Make sure you unplug the TV before doing any of this. If you are replacing the entire housing with a new lamp you can just plug in the new housing and replace the screws and cover. If you are placing a new bulb in the existing housing you take off 4 small screws and remove the metal cage from the housing, remove and replace the bulb the same way the original is in there, put it back together, and you're done.
