Question about Grundig S350 AM/FM/SW Radio
This was a present several years ago...one of my favorite radios, and I have many. A few months ago, I knocked into the table on which the radio sat. It fell maybe 2 feet, straight down on its face. Well, there was absolutely NO visible damage to the radio. The knobs still turn easily, not even a scratch. I think that the way it fell, the impact was spread evenly among the knobs. Now here's the good news. EVERYTHING WORKS! It turns on, the LCD display works as always, I can tune stations etc. However, there is TOTAL silence from the speaker. Not even static. Nothing comes from the earphone jack either. Yet, the LCD shows full signal strength. I'm leary of getting it repaired since that would could as much as, or more than, the radio is worth. I've thought of selling it on ebay for parts...hell even the knobs could be valuble to someone. But before I do that I thought I'd try this site first. Maybe someone knows of a book on repairing radios? Might be kinda fun opening it up and trying. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Probably one of two things:
The dropped caused the speaker leads from the PCB to Speaker to disengage (check the earphone jack, too... 'cause it is in the circuit)
The bounce cause the Audio amplifier IC to become desoldered from the PCB.
