It sounds like your controller has had what is called an elecro static discharge. the only way to fix it is to replace the controller with a new one as it is fried. there is now way for you to repair it.

hope this helped

Most likely Becuase it isn't a dualshock controller. Or if the game is on the PS3 and your using a PS2 controller. But sometimes you may use PS2 controllers on the PS3. but sometimes some games won't let you use the controller do to the lack of usage of the dualshock controller. I hope this helps

Hey on my dualshock 2 controller, one of the analog sticks, the left one to be specific is sticking, its not like I've had it for a long time i got it after Christmas 2010.

If you purchased new or received as a gift, take it back and exchange. Many stores will trade 1 for 1 even without receipt, but no refund without one. Try Walmart or Target. Call ahead if you're unsure. Sooner is better though.

Dual shock 2 wire digrem

The pinout is as follows when looking into the cable like this;
__________________
1 ' * * * ' * * * ' * * * ' 9
\_________________/

Pin Name Description
1 DATA Data
2 CMD Command
3 +7.6V
Dualshock and Dualshock 2 uses this for powering vibro-motors. Voltage on PS2 is 7.6V, however many sites says it's 9V. But it will work on 9V too.
4 GND Ground
5 VCC Vcc
6 ATT ATT select
7 CLK Clock
8 N/C Not connected
9 ACK Acknowledge

Ps2 dualshock 2 connector plug has a total of 8 pins

Even I noticed the same and checked others. Yes its normal.
But I am facing a problem connecting the controller. Does it have to press tightly because sometimes it gets loose?

How to check terminals on a dualshock2 ps2 controller

does it stop working?or stopped vibrating?if the vibration stopped then wire connecting to the rotating motor is detached this is the common problem with dual shock because of constant vibration.Solution is to open the controller and connect the loose wire, dust is also a big factor if buttons are already not responding so try also to remove accumulated dust on the button touch board.

Ps2 dual shock2 controller buttons not working

Removed accumulated dust sticking on the board were the buttons touches.use cotton balls with alcohol or use clean damp cloth. If nothing's happen check the cord I'm sure it is twisted badly, open your ps2 use this controller and try to twist back the twisted cord if it stopped sometimes when your twisting it then you have to replaced the cord(make sure that your using the original ps2 controller not imitation)pls. rate

My dualshock 2 controllers analog are very hard. how to fix it

Hi warren111,

When you say hard, did you mean the controllers analog stick is very "stiff" or loose to the point that you can't move the characters onscreen or the characters move involuntarily. If this is your case then you may have to try another PS2 dualshock 2 analog controller in your PS2, If the problem doesn't happen with another controller, then you may consider buying a new PS2 dualshock 2 analog controller since most likely the controller is already defective.

Also try other games, see if the problem only happens with a particular game. If it does then you will have to check the settings of the game, and see if you can adjust the settings of the buttons or analog stick.

If the problem you're having is more with the "comfort" of the controller you're using then you should consider looking at 3rd party controllers for the PS2. One company that makes them is Logitech, they have a line controllers that work for the PS2 there are other companies so check out gaming sites to get reviews on them. But I would suggest though that if you're shopping for a controller because of this reason, you should try to test the controller out in a game shop first. So that you can get a feel of it before buying. If you like the controller and you're comfortable with it then tha's the time you buy it.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)
