Question about Porter Cable 18 - Gauge Brad Nailer and Compressor Combo Kit

My porter cable pancake compressor seems to have a leak

The leak sounds like it is coming from the motor that sits on top of the canister. It is a pretty substantial leak from the sound. Any suggestions. Thanks

I have the same type of compressor, a model C2005 with the head leak.  I took it apart and it leaks from where the pressure pipe plugs into the head with just a rubber seal.  Pretty substantial leak.  I've tried RTV silicone, that blew out in seconds.  JB weld only lasted a few seconds longer.  Epoxy putty worked but it still leaks but less.  This is the third one of these compressors I've had given to me.  I'm a carpenter.  The first 2 only lasted 6 months each with daily use.  Others report the same problem.  These are JUNK and should be avoided.

Tap on the check valve on the tank (located on the pancake, right side). It may take a few times but it worked for me. If that doesn't work, you'll need to replace it. The check valve is leaking and not exhausting from the top area of the motor. It goes without saying that, thats where the hose is leading to. Good Luck!

I've burned through two Mdl 2005s. Finally I realized that the catch up isn't quick enough so the compressor motor runs most of the time when I'm putting up trim. I switched to a Dewalt vertical tank, 15 gallons, D55168, which has more volume. On staple guns and nailers, it's great. It runs more on spray painters, even HVLP's, but keeps up. Been in service 2 years now, and I don't baby my my equipment. Still light enough for one man to roll to a pickup or trailer and pull up into it.

200 PSI and 5.4 CFM handles most equipment.

REMOVE COVER. SOUNDS LIKE HEAD OR VALVE PLATE GASKET. MARK HEAD AND OTHER PARTS SO YOU CAN PUT IT BACK TOGETHER.

My Porter Cable pancake outlet regulator doesn't seem to work.

If your quick coupler is not jammed up, (remove & test) and assuming you are pulling the regulator knob out to adjust the pressure and it is not stripped, you will need a new manifold kit.
There are about 6 versions of this unit so you will need model and type to get the correct part. There are no individual regulator parts available for this unit.

I have a pancake compressor that won't hold air pressure, leaks out of the small hole in the head. I have replaced the head gasket and air pressure valuve and still leaks out of the hole in the top head.

If you replaced the head gasket then its probably the valve plate and gasket.

Air Leak From Pump Head on Porter Cable C2001 Pancake Compressor

The real question is where exactly is the leak coming from. Compressors have a pressure release valve designed to let the pressure off of the compressor motor so it can start when there is pressure in the tank. This valve is often the culprit and fairly easy to replace. You can order it direct from porter-cable online. Just in case double check the drain petcock sometimes these get worn and won't close completely and can easily be over looked when trouble shooting.

could be a leak at the bleeder valve. That's usually the problem I find. They get beat and banged around. Then they start to leak. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Porter Cable Pancake compressor: no air through

If this is a almost new compressor, check to see if the plastic plugs they install in the air intake has been totally removed. It is possible to run the compressor with plug still in place. You might have to remove the air filter to check.
