Have to keep resetting my NetGear Rangemax 824 Router

I have to keep resetting my NetGear Rangemax 824 router. It will work fine for a while, maybe a few hours. Then I won't be able to get a response when clicking on a webpage or email. There's no indication that there is a problem, the system just seems slow -- but it never recovers unless I reset the router. I've had the router for a couple of years. Can this be fixed or do I need to replace it?

I'm forced to continually reset my NetGear
WPN824 v3 wireless router. It was fine
for the first 3 months and has become completely unreliable. I downloaded a WPN824V3-V1.0.8_1.0.6NA.img
file from their website and can’t seem to extract it with WINIMAGE. I’m ready to throw it in the trash.

    WPN824V3-V1.0.8_1.0.6.img doesn't mount for me either. I'm on a mac, OS X 10.4.11.

I experienced WPN824 freezes for about a month and a half. At first it was about once a week, then it became many times per week, every day, and every hour. After suspecting that new devices introduced on the network at about the same time were behaving badly, I removed them and I still did not find any culprit. I put an identical spare unit, which continued the behaviour. Finally I found the problem: the power supply. Instead of outputting 12V, it was down to 4 to 6 volts. It was enough to keep the lights on (the blue ones on top were not "circulating" though), but the microprocessor was probably not running. I replaced the power supply and everything has been fine since then.

So before throwing away your perfectly good routers, check the power supply.

HI can't conect to interten my router netgear

To set up this router you need to "Dial into" it. Type 192.168.1.1 into your browser window. In the dialogue box that appears type the default user name [ admin ] and the default password [ password ] . Now that you are logged in, there is plenty of information on how to setup your connection. Always set your default IP to "obtain by DHCP". These setting will become easier to understand once you are in the router setup.

I'm trying to connect a netgear wpn 824 to a comcast router with windows 7

You are trying to set up the wireless router with the comcast modem, right ?
You can set up the router manually , without the disc.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online when connected to the comcast modem only.
If you have the router working already then you just need to add a computer to the network.

How to reset Netgear RangeMax NExT Wireless Router WNR834B

Do a hard reset (20sec hold reset button, unplug for 20 sec still pressing the reset button and another 20 sec to turn on the power while holding the reset button). That should reset to defaults.

Can't set up security for Netgear 824

LOL you bought it, you get to figure out how it works.

I used a MAC for a day, and the owner had to tell me how everything works. If you can get to the internet, I imagine you can go to www.routerlogin.com and get access to the Netgear. The Wireless Settings tab on my Netgear brings up text sensitive help on making security and wireless work.

Drivers for Netgear WPN 824 V2

First I would reset the Router to Factor Default

Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)

Release the button.

Wait for the router to reboot.

Set your computer IP address to 192.168.1.3

connect your computer to the router, open a webpage and enter 192.168.1.1 you should get the username and password screen

Default username: admin    password: password

or could be 1234 but should be the first.
