Label will print up/down with the letters sideways

This is after we changed out the print head. It is not printing from left to right. We changed the format to landscape but it did not change.

We are running MP2 as a published app on a citrix server. The problem occured before and after replacing the print head. The label prints vertically instead of horizontal. Print preview shows the print correctly (horizontal across a 2 x 4 label)

    thanks,

The printer will only print the information it receives. The software and the driver is in charge of sending information to the printer, and if something is wrong is because any form configuration options is not correct. Try re-installing the software again or load the default parameters. Also try to design a new format.

My zebra only prints the left half? I have tried calibrating, it does nothing. Can you help me out? Thanks

One of two situations exists:
1. If the printing stops with clear stopping edge, then the PRINT WIDTH setting has been changed from the default full width setting of 104mm.
Best way to check this is to take your tallest and widest label and print out a configuration label. This is done by turning off the priner, pressing the CANCEL key and holding while turning on the printer. Release the button when the calibrate led turns off. A config label will print and you can check the setting for PRINT WIDTH.

2. If the printing stops by fading away to the right side, then that is caused by a pressure imbalance across the printhead. There is more pressure on the left side than the right side. There are two toggles the press down on the printhead and the pressure can be adjusted on each by turning the knob on top. Readjust the right side until printing returns across the label.

Hope that helps !

Where is the serial number on a Canon Pixma MX870?

The serial number is located on the guide for the print head holder. Open the cover, as if your going to change the ink. To the right of the print head holder (where the ink goes), on the guide that moves the holder back and forth, there is a white label with the serial number. The number starts with four letters and ends with five numbers.

Zebra stripe wont print properly

Check the printhead pressure. there is an adjustment screw that does this. It could also be that your platen roller is worn or that your printhead has burned out pixels.

My pixma ip8500 is printing with some colour missing, all cartridges have ink in them?

Hi there,

When Printing Becomes Faint or Colors are Incorrect.
When printing becomes faint or colors are incorrect even if the ink remains in the ink tanks, the print head nozzles are probably clogged. Print the nozzle check pattern to confirm the condition of the nozzles and then perform the Print Head Cleaning.
Note : Before performing maintenace

*Open the Scanning Unit (Printer Cover) and make sure that all lamps for the ink tanks are lit red.
-If any one of the lamps is flashing slowly, the associated ink tank is running low. You can continue printing for a while, but we recommend you to have replacement ink tank available.
-If any one of the lamps is flashing fast, the associated ink tank is emty. Replace the ink tank.
If an ink tank is flashing fast even though ink remains in that ink tank, it is inserted into the wrong position. Make sure that the ink tank of the correct coloris inserted in each position matching the label.
-If the ink lamp is not lit, the tank is not set properly. Press the <PUSH> mark on the ink tank until the tank clicks into place. Make sure that all the packaging material is peeled off the ink tank.

*Increase the print quality setting in the printer settings.

Step 1 : Printing the Nozzle Check Printer.
1) Make sure that the machine is turned on, open the Front Feed and extend the Output Paper support.
2)Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder or the Front Feeder.
Set the Paper Thickness Lever to the left.
3) Press the Paper Feed Switch to select the paper source where you have loaded paper.
4)Print the nozzle check pattern.
a) Press the Menu button.
b) Use the right and left arrow buttons to select the Maintenance/settings, then press the OK button.
The maintenance /setting screen is displayed.
3) Use the right and left arrow buttons to select Maintenance, then press the OK button.
The Maintenance screen is displayed.
4) Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select the Nozzle check and then press the OK button.
The pattern confirmation screen is displayed.
5) Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select Yes and the press the OK button.
The nozzle check print is printed, and the pattern confirmation screens are displayed alternately.

Examine the pattern and take the appropriate action.

Step 2: Print Head Cleaning
Clean the Print Head if lines are missing or if white streaks appear in the printed nozzle check pattern. Cleaning unclogs the nozzles and restores the print head condition. Note that cleaning the Print Head causes used inl to be absorbed in the ink absorber. Cleaning the Print Head consumes ink, so perform Print Head Cleaning only when necessary.
1) Make sure that the machine is on, open the Fron Feeder, and extend the Output Paper Support.
2) Load a sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in the Auto Sheet Feeder or the Front Feeder/
Set the Paper Thickness Lever to the left.
3) Press the Paper Feed Switch to select the paper source where you have loaded paper.
4) Start Print Head Cleaning.
a) Press the Menu button.
b) Use the right and left arrow button to select Maintenance/settings, then press the OK button.
The maintenance /setting screen is displayed.
c) Use the right and left arrow buttons to select Maintenance, then press the OK button.
The Maintenance screen is displayed.
d) Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select Cleaning and then press the OK button.
The confirmation screen is displayed.
e) Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select Yes and the press the OK button.
Print Head Cleaning starts.
Do not perform any other operations until Print Head cleaning finishes. This takes about 50 seconds.
The pattern print confirmation screen is displayed.
f) Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select Yes and the press the OK button.
The nozzle check print is printed, and the pattern confirmation screens are displayed alternately.
Examine the pattern and take the appropriate action.
Note : If the problem is not resolved after performing steps 4 and 5 twice, try Print Head Deep Cleaning.

Print Head Deep Cleaning.
If print quality does not improve by standard Print head Cleaning, try the Print Head Deep Cleaning, which is more powerful process. Note that cleaning the Print Head causes used ink to be absorbed in the ink absorber. Print Head deep Cleaning consumer more ink than the standard Print Head Cleaning, so perform this procedure only when neccessary.
The Maintenance screen is displayed.
d) Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select Deep Cleaning and then press the OK button.
The confirmation screen is displayed.
e) Use the Up and Down arrow buttons to select Yes and the press the OK button.
Print Head Deep Cleaning starts.
Do not perform any other operations until Print Head Deep cleaning finishes. This takes about 100 seconds.

5) Check the condition of the Print Head.
a) Print the nozzle check pattern to check the print head condition.
If a particular color is not printed properly, replace the ink tank of that color.
b) If the print head nozzles are still not cleaned, turn off the machine and perform another Print Head Deep Cleaning after 24 hours.
c) If this does not solve the problem, the Print Head may be damaged. Contact your Canon service representative.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
Have a good day.

Printing lines not straight and letters shadowed. Help!

Open the cover over the print head and *carefully* inspect the clear thin plastic strip that runs from left to right near the print head. If you see any lubricant (white grease) on this encoder strip, it needs to be cleaned off.
1. With the cover open and the print head in the center, unplug the power cord. This will allow you to gently move the print head left or right.
2. With a cotton swab wetted with rubbing alcohol, *gently* wipe the grease spots from the encoder strip. (Be VERY CAREFUL you don't dislodge the strip.) You may need to move the print head to the left or right to get all areas cleaned.
3. Let the alcohol dry off completely. With the area clear of cleaning tools, debris, and fingers, plug the power back in.
4. Try a test print.

Make sure the option for bidirectional printing is set correctly.

Try it both ways

Make sure you are not printing too far to the left or the right - the print head can hit the end of its run and lose its place.

Colr prints showing plenty of lines

Here's a solution from Canon USA:

Issue: Banded or streaked prints
Solution: Print Head Alignment MP530

Perform Print Head Alignment Instructions to perform a Print Head Alignment directly from the machine. If diagrams or ruled lines are misaligned, print head alignment is required. The print head alignment can be performed automatically or manually. If the automatic print head alignment does not work, adjust the print head manually. Automatic Print Head Alignment
  1. Press <ON/OFF> to turn on the machine.

  2. Load a few sheets of letter-sized plain paper in the auto sheet feeder.

  3. Press the Open button to open the Paper Output Tray. Then open up and set the extension by pressing down the hollow on the front side.

  4. Execute automatic print head alignment.
    1. Press <COPY> button.
    2. Press <Menu> repeatedly to select [MAINTENACE].
    3. Press the left or right cursor to select [AUTO HEAD ALIGN], then press the <OK>. (A pattern is printed and the print head is automatically aligned. It takes about five minutes to finish printing the pattern.)

  4. Execute manual print head alignment.
    1. Press <Menu> repeatedly to select [MAINTENACE].
    2. Press the left or right cursor to select [ALIGN PRINT HEAD], then press the <OK>. (The nozzle check pattern is printed.)

  5. Check the printed patterns and use the left or right arrow to input the number of the pattern in column A that has the least noticeable streaks.

Problem printing

This is an indication of a problem with the print head. (Assuming what you are talking about is a line down the center (left to right) of the card.) It has been a while since I have used these, but I believe the fix is buy a new print head.

How do i change an ink cartridge on a HP PSC 1510 printer

To replace the print cartridges
1. Make sure the HP All-in-One is on.
Caution If the HP All-in-One is off when you lift the print-carriage access
door to access the print cartridges, the HP All-in-One will not release the
cartridges for changing. You might damage the HP All-in-One if the print
cartridges are not docked safely on the right side when you try to remove
them.
2. Make sure the paper tray is down and there is letter or A4 unused plain white
paper loaded in the paper tray.
3. Open the print-carriage access door by lowering the door.
The print carriage moves to the far right side of the HP All-in-One.
4. Wait until the print carriage is idle and silent, and then, using your thumb, lightly press down on a print cartridge to release it.
If you are replacing the tri-color print cartridge, remove the print cartridge from the slot on the left.
If you are replacing the black or photo print cartridge, remove the print cartridge
from the slot on the right.
5. Pull the print cartridge toward you out of its slot.in-One
6. If you are removing the black print cartridge in order to install the photo print
cartridge, store the black print cartridge in the print cartridge protector.
7. Remove the new print cartridge from its packaging and, being careful to touch
only the black plastic, gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab.
8. Slide the new print cartridge forward at a slight upward angle into the empty slot.
Using your index finger, push the print cartridge forward until it clicks into place.
If the print cartridge you are installing has a white triangle on its label, slide the
print cartridge into the slot on the left. The label for the slot is green with a solid
white triangle.
If the print cartridge you are installing has a white square or a white pentagon on
its label, slide the print cartridge into the slot on the right. The label for the slot is black with a solid white square and a solid white pentagon.your HP All-in-One
9. Close the print-carriage access door.
If you are installing a new print cartridge, the HP All-in-One begins to print a print cartridge alignment sheet.
10. Load the print cartridge alignment sheet on the right front corner of the glass with the top of the page to the right.
11. Press the Start Scan button.
The HP All-in-One aligns the print cartridges.

Good Luck.
