Hi, my guess is power supply. did it work normal, before it failed? this is a possible solution, carification request. also for about 10.00 bucks you can get a power supply tester. there is other ways to check it also if you know what wires to jump- i will tell you, what wires to jump with a paper clip-look on the atx molex plug on the power supply-do you have a green wire? dell and other brands are proprietory and use different colors alot. and so you buy the parts from them...the board could also have a problem..

do not do this unless there is a green wire,or you are sure of what you are doing..jump the green wire(ps-on) to any adjecent black wire(com) . if the fan on the power supply spins it is ok. then the problem lies in the mainboard or other hardware. post if you need help.ghoff1 hope this helps you.

Hi use asus p4s8x-mx it was fine all along, yesterday i turn off so when i came back to switch on its enable to on so i dont now what seems to be a problem

check all of your PC power cables whether they are plugged in tight and electricity can pass through. if the problem still persists your SMPS (switched mode power supply) might have been damaged, check to see that the SMPS fan works or not. if it does not, it would be wise to get a new one.

PC INTEL P4 /Motherboard foxconn 661fx7mi-s DOES NOT POWER ON

Seems like the motherboard is broken...
Yous hould first try the PC with another motherboard, if you have one and are able to switch all the components.
If then the PC boots, the motherboard is broken. You could try taking it to a computershop, maybe they can spot a problem, but I guess if something, like a fuse or a single wire, burnt through the only way to fix it is to replace all of them, which would be more exoensive than a new motherboard.

If you need any help finding a new motherboard just ask me.

Won't boot

unplug the power cable (black thing on back) and replug it in after about 20 seconds. make sure the power switch on the back of your pc is flipped to the on position. when you turn your pc on, if the motherboard is getting power, there should be a green light that comes on on the board.

Asus a8v-vm se fans always run

Hi jderek4, try this. locate the toggle switch on the back of the power supply. Just find it do not flip it.
Plug the PSU's power cord into the PC. Just as you got a good connection & the PC begains to power up move the toggle switch to it's other position. The PC should power off that very second.
If the PC does not shut off than the PSU is bad. If it did shut down wait a few seconds. Press the cases power on button. The PC should start to boot up. Let it finish loading. Click the start button & choose to shut down windows. The PC should shut off.
Yes? If not than your back to (bad power supply). Swap it out.

Wont post.

Try a few things for me OK? From what you typed, turned on the psu "the toggle switch on the psu", pc seemed to be starting up. I need you to keep the toggle switch on the power supply in the on position. Press and hold the start button on the PC case to shut it down. Give it a few seconds & power up by pressing the power switch on the case. Notice a differance? Next, unplug everything connected to the pc expect the monitor, mouse & keyboard. Try to boot. Still no? Remove the side of the case exposing the board. Turn the psu off by flipping the toggle switch on the psu, wait till the green light on the board goes out. Grab the Mb ( I know it's tight in there) and see if you can move the board in any direction. Not loose? Re-check all data & power connections for a solid connect. Re-check your case to Mb connections. Also check the PSU, there is a red slide switch it should be set to 115v. Post your findings..

Loud whirring noise when mains switched on but PC still off

Most likely worn bearings in the fans.

If that's the case, replace the fan/s.
