Apple Bose SoundDock Series II Digital Music System Remote Control for iPod - Black Logo
Posted on Mar 06, 2009

I have an ipod touch 8G I purchased a Bose soundock II. The sound is great but the remote only controls the volume. I cannot change tracks, move through playlists and when I hit the off button on the Bose remote, the Bose shuts off but not the ipod? What is the problem and how can I solve it? Thanks

Bothe the docking station and the remote are useless I recommend you buy a universal remote control. For the Ipod switching off-it does'nt switch off reason being it has it's own battery and does not depend on the electrical power of the docking station.

Bose sounddock not giving any sound. Ipod working fine through earplugs. Unhooked soundock for travel, now no sound. Tried all the resets, etc. Also, new battery in remote and it doesn't respond either????

You probably have a broken docking connector or bad power supply. Contact www.invebo.com to get a replacement board. It takes minutes to fit. They also sell the USB charge upgrade to enable you dock to charge the IPHONE on the Soundock original.

Bose Sound Dock remote control - only volume works

My remote worked perfectly until I changed the battery. The original battery was CL 2032 and I replaced it with DL 2032. After replacing the battery, only the volume control works. The off button will only fade the sound while the button is depressed. Release the button, and the volume returns to the original level and the unit remains On.
None of the other buttons work.

I have a Bose SoundDock II and it won't work well with my iPhone as promised. I get an error message that they weren't made to work together. Sometimes it will work and then sometimes it won't work unless...

The bose soundock 2 has some issues regarding the different generations of iPhones. In a forum (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=361259&page=2) if you're using an iPhone 3GS bose has a separate port for i. Do check with Bose regarding the compatibilities of its SoundDock on different generations of iPhones.

Bose sounddock remote and ipod menu functions

Unfortunately I've never seen a universal remote that will control the extra functions of this. If it's the original SoundDock, you can only do: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan. If this is a SoundDock II or SoundDock Portable, you can only control: volume, power, play/pause, skip/scan, and playlist up/ playlist down. Quite honestly, that's all I need to do on my SoundDock. I can't really read what's on my iPod from where I'm sitting in the first place. It may be possible to use a universal learning remote for this, but you'd have to teach commands from an apple remote as well as the bose remote, and the learning remote (+apple remote) may cost you over 1/3 the cost of the SoundDock. It also may not work perfectly. I hope this helps somewhat.

Does the new bose dock station charge the new ipod touch (32g)?

The new SoundDock II charges your new iPod touch and is fully compatible all iPods and the iPhone 3G. Also the SoundDock Portable will do this. But..
Better news-> Call Bose. They can upgrade the 30-pin connector to charge via USB-only and function with the remote as well. $99. This will make your iPod touch 100% compatible and somewhat future-proof your SoundDock. If the SoundDock was purchased within 90 days (at full retail price), they will do the upgrade for a smaller fee or even free I think.. (new 1 year warranty given with repair/mod) btw- This is an Apple issue, not a Bose issue. All 3rd party iPod connection devices had to make this change at some point.

Will a dead battery in a Ipod play in a bose soundock?

Well with a dead battery it is always best to get it replaced. However, your docking station, or a wall charger, or computer, should all power on the ipod..
If you are interested in purchasing a new battery for your ipod, I would suggest going to the website listed below to do so. It is fairly affordable. Around 45.99

Problem with Ipod Nano 3d generation and Bose Soundock

Try other iPods - if they work with no problems it is a problem with the iPod software, connect this to iTunes to get it updated, and also try a soft reset (hold down menu+center buttons for about ten seconds) if you still get issues, contact Bose.

Bose Sounddock - Speakers have a loud hiss at low song volume

Here is how I fixed the hissing noise in my Soundock;
--Pull the bottom plate off (It is attached by 4 screws)
--There is a green motherboard with 2 ribbonwires. .
--One of the ribbonwires (the one the mounts the ribbon vertically) had loosened up.
--Use a tweezers to pop it back into place and that noise will disappear.

This is a design flaw, as the action of inserting/removing your ipod, coupled with the action of setting your sound dock down will work this ribbon loose.
