Question about LG LRFD25850 French Door Refrigerator

1 Answer

The digital unit fell downt and burned the line inside of the refregerator. Some small holes in the melted top of the refr. LG had extended my waranty for 30 days. The repair guy came today after 2 weeks of calls and ordered the digital unit. However, when I asked him if the holes will affect the performance of my refr he called to the tech support, and they said it will not affect. I think they are not right and want to take some legal actions against LG. If somebody can help me with that I will appreciate it

Thanks. But I do not believe it. if you have some holes in your house the air will be drifted and it will cost you more to heat or to cool the house. Same thing with the fridge. Plus it does not look good

Thank u very much. I understand that there is the insulation, however there the space between the insulation and the liner, that helps to keep the cold temperature steady (air insulation). It is broken now so it will not work properly. I can not predict how it is going to work now. It should work like the space between the insulation in the house and the walls. Can not do anything against the science. The aerodynamic laws are the same for everything and everybody, even this LG. I filled up complaint in BBB. Gonna see what happens.

It most likely wont effect the way the ref. functions.

Behind the liner of the ref. should be insulated so it shouldnt effect the temp.I do understand it does not look good, but should operate fine.LG is a fairly new company and i personally think they are over priced for a ref. that is already falling apart.I would continue your actions on getting a new ref. to replace the one you have.Good luck.

Three things come to mind:
A) High humidity has overwhelmed the defroster & blocked the passageways so air will not circulate. (Put important food in a cooler, turn the temperature dial to off & leave doors open until ice melts out. Generally overnight. Be prepared to mop up excess water)
B) Defrost timer stopped working. (Generally behind a cover panel on the fridge side. Un-plug unit & remove panel to find a small metal box in the airflow path from the freezer. They generally have provision to manually turn the timer wheel with a screwdriver. Plug back in & allow to run & see if the ice melts. If so, the clock motor is shot. Replacements can be bought on-line)
C) Burned out defroster heating element. Generally older units. (Un-plug & put essentials in a cooler. Remove cover panel on freezer side to expose cooling coils. Allow ice to melt overnight, (again, lots of water). In the AM you can see the glass tube enclosed heater coils. All dark & smokey inside, heater is burned out. Replacements on-line for ~ $75.) If the unit is more than 15 years old, consider a more energy efficient replacement.
Good Luck!

My GE refrigerator Model TBX18SA is draining condenste water at the bottom and also inside. How to get rid of it ?Thanks.

That happened to us on our freezer side by side. Pull out whatever is in the bottom of your freezer, a shelf or a basket. Look on the floor of the freezer toward the back. You should see a small dime or nickle sized hole that may be covered in ice. It should have a cover on it with small holes. Check that nothing is blocking that hole. Something has probably fallen on top of it and has blocked its ability to drain thru the hole into the drain pan under the fridge when the defrost cycle comes on and the melted ice can't drain down properly. We used a hair dryer on low to carefully melt the ice that had formed on the bottom to find the drain. Sure enough a small piece of plastic wrap was blocking it. We removed the plastic and continued with the hair dryer til we could pour water in the hole and it flowed freely to the drain pan and didn't continue to back up into the freezer floor.. Be very careful with the hair dryer, put it on lowest setting and keep it moving back and forth, don't hold in one place, or it could melt or warp the plastic sides of the fridge. When the hair dryer is on low, put your hand about a foot in front of it and it should feel warm not hot. Move your hand forward til you feel the air is just warm, this is the distance you want to keep it from the ice you are melting. As the ice melts use a small towel to mop up the melted ice as you go. Good luck

Water leaking from the top rear inside. Comming

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer.

I have a Kenmore Refr. Model # 795.77563600 has a Error FF

The FF error code indicates that the freezer fan motor is defective.
You need a new main control board and evaporator fan motor.
The fridge is made by LG, but rebranded as Kenmore by Sears. First 3 digits is the tell. You can call Sears for parts.

Leaking water inside refrigerator-model FRT18KC3BW2 I need know where to clean out the lines

you have to take the center bar down inside the fridge. It is the bar on top of the fridge compartment that houses the lightbulb. Unplug the fridge and unscrew the bar. There is one plug that must be unplugged, then you can pull it down. In the back is a small reservoir for water melting down from the freezer defrost, and a small tube stuck into a hole in the backof the fridge wall. pull the tube out, then flush hot hot water mixed with bleach into that hole. It will flush out anything stuck in the drain tube. If this doesnt work, you will need an external drain kit.

KGU3200GB, Freezer working normally but there is a build up of ice inside on floor which eventually leads to water on floor

Behind the evaporator cover on the inside of the unit is a small drain hole that is either clogged or frozen over. First clear away the ice with some hot water or a steam cleaner to expose the drain. Next try pouring hot water down the drain, if its clogged you can usually clear it with high pressure steam or by removing the drain tube, which you can get to from the back under the unit. If all it is is frozen over the a 14 gauge wire wrapped around the heater and extended into the drain hole a few inches should solve you problem. Good Luck!
