I have a 36" TV that won't work - Red LED light blinks 5 times
I have a 36" Sony Wega that I purchased in 2004 (I don't have the model number handy). Recently, my son kept pressing the on/off button on the remote. I then shut the TV off manually. Later that evening, the TV wouldn't work and the red LED light kept flashing 5 times every 20 seconds or so. Any thoughts? Thx.

The 5 blinks indicates a White Balance Failure. This involves checking voltages and components tied directly to the CRT. I would not suggest any attempt for self repair. The cost for this repair should not be significant. Figure a parts cost in the $30-$50 range at worst.

The 4 blinks indicate the problem circuit, but I need the model number to give you the specifics. The category you entered is KV-36fs120 which is a 36 inch set. Please update this with the model number. It should be on the back.
The light flashing 5 times is normal at turn on as the set is monitoring current drain on the pictures tube cathodes. Any speakers near the set that have un-shielded magnets could possibly cause color issues.
