    I'm thrilled. That was so easy. I haven't used a Wheelwriter in so long (computers) that the dust was just not coming off the brain.

If it makes a growling noise or you cac hear a motor running the carrier belt may be broken or the plastic drive gear cracked. Nothing at all most likley a board.

Turn the sound off of IBM Wheelwriter 3.0 Series II


The only sound you can turn off is the optional spell check feature which is done by holding down the code button (left of the spacebar) and then hitting the number 1. Any other beeps cannot be turned off.

Your print solenoid probably has a broken cap. There are some companies that sell the "kit" with instructions on how to replace the cap.

Three beeps and the space lights blinking means the batteries are bad replace them and be sure the holder is clean.

The WW 3, 5 & 6 DO NOT have bold. To get bold you must go to a WW10 or better.

try turning the machine off put a SMALL amount of oil on the large round rod running across the typewriter manually push the print head left and right a few times to see if it will loosen up. The problem is usually caused be drying oil you may consider having it serviced by a pro.
