1) There is a separate valve feeding the ice maker. It is triggered when ice maker t-stat closes and unit dumps ice. If the ice level sensing rod is down and there is no water in unit, it may have a bad stat or motor(usually unrepairable, need to replace unit) If turning, you may need a new fill valve.
2) If there is water inside the unit on bottom, you probably have a stopped up drainpan. Could be from debris, or may be frozen. located at bottom of freezer coil. If frozen, use a hair dryer to thaw(NO POINTY OBJECTS!!!) If not, inspect positioning of drainline.

Your evaporator coils frost up in normal use and every eight hours or so the entire unit shuts down and the defrost heater comes on to melt the frost. This cycle last about 20 minutes. The melted frost drips into a drain pan and through a drain tube to the drain tray under the freezer/refrigerator where it's evaporated by the condenser fan.

Your drain tube may be stopped up with ice at the upper end because it drains too slow because it's stopped up at the lower end in the evaporator pan under the unit at the floor. It can get dust and mold in it. Once you get the ice out at the top a little pressure with a turkey baster will usually clear it out. Flushing it out with hot water and clorox may help.
Make sure it drains quick enough to prevent refreezing. . The drain should be located below the evaporator coils on the lower back of the freezer. If this repeatedly happens with yours, you may can prevent it by taking a bare copper wire and wrap it around a fin near the heater and put the other end a few inches down the drain. The heat convection may prevent it from freezing.

Water leak from under door

When your refer defrosts a couple times a day it produces about a quarter of a cup of water each time. This occurs in the freezer section. The water travels down a drain pipe (or tube) that leads to a drian pan in the bottom of the unit. It is collected and evaporates from the heat of the motor.
If the drain is plugged water will form inside the unit itself. If the drain tube has somehow moved and not allowing the water to collect in the drain pan it will go on the floor.Either way,if the drain is the problem the amount of water should be pretty small, no more than a cup or two.If you have an icemaker or ice and water through the door and the amount of water on the floor is more than a cup or two. I would find the water shutoff for the supply line(probably behind the unit in newer homes)and turn it off.Clean up the water and wait a day.If the water goes away assume that one of the plastic lines in the unit that carries water to the icemaker or door is leaking. If the water continues I would suspect the drain. The only way to check the drain is to unplug the unit and remove the cardboard back, locate the drain pan and see if water is present and that the drain line is in it's proper place.
If one of the water lines is leaking you will most likely need a service tech.
Also it's best to turn the icemaker off by lifting the arm or switch before you turn the water off for testing.

Water was found on the bottom of unit on the floor, what could be the problem. I notice water in the tray on the bottom also.

Either a cracked drain pan or a broken water line. If you only see the water once a day or so....or once every few days it is probably a cracked drain pan.

Water leaking on the floor

Typically condensation (water leaking) is from a bad seal on your doors. Doors can be warped in transit, from not being leveled or items that were crushed in on the seal. First off, get a level and level your unit front to back, side to side. After letting it settle for a couple of days, then take a piece of paper and place around the door and close. Now pull the paper out - you should have good resistence. If the paper slips out easily, that is your problem area. See if you can pull the seal away from the door to reseat it. Sometimes pulling it out, then closing the door to reset will take care of your problem. Try these solutions.

Water on floor under unit & ice bottom of freezer

By going online, saw several posts re this problem. In short, the water drain was clogged and there was also a problem with the defrost timer. Service man blew out the drain line with compressed air and installed a new timer. Voila! Problem fixed. Interestingly, the serviceman found a wad of what looked like putty, but was sticky like gum in the drain area. He said he had never encountered anything similar.

Sounds as if the fill tube is frozen over. Pull the entire fill tube out of the refrigerator to defrost it or defrost it from the inside of the freezer.

Water on floor

is possible that the plastic tube that leeds in the pan is obstructed or in a wrong position, check if water goes in the pan just put some water trought from the inside hole in the fridge and check if it reach the pan, maybe the inclination of the fridge is not sufficient, ( it has to be inclined to the wall direction so the water slides on the back inside wall of the fridge. can also be poor insulation of the fridge, so the outside surfaces come wet because of the hight air temperature outside and the cold surfaces of the fridge, then the water slides down the floor...make sure about air ventilation around the fridge!...I hope it was useful!
