My dell Crashes within minutes of turning it on!

I bought my dell inspiron 1525 in october and it has been fine until only yesterday. I turned it on and then it froze within about a minute and a half, after about another minute of just a frozen screen it turns itself off. I have tried rebooting it, shutting it down then turning on again but nothing, it just does the same. Just Freezes! What Do i Do?

My dell 1525 freezes at times. It is not consistent. Forces me to shut down the system and restart. I have had Dell run the diagnostics and says there is nothing wrong with the hardware.

my 1525 laptop shuts down randomly as well... had it for not even a year and contacted Dell support... they told me to run the diagnostics test...it froze while doing that... so they sent me a new hard drive... now a month on from the new hard drive the same thing is happening again! i'm not even doing anything major on the laptop at the time.

therefore it cannot be a hard drive problem because i have had a new hard drive in... i noticed when it shut down on me yesterday the fan was a bit louder than usual but thats the first time the fan has done anything like that...

(i thought i would just repeat this from another problem post... it seems to me to be a model problem and not a Vista or Hard drive problem... i've now seen at least 3 people with the same problem...strange...)

I have the same problem and have had to do a factory image restore. It is still happening. My laptop is 1.6 years old but the hard drive is only 6 months old.

This could be a multitude of things, but the first thing that comes to mind is an overheating problem.

To rule out other things, remove and reseat the RAM, HDD, CD/HDD drive, Battery, Wi-Fi/BlueTooth mini adapters, etc.

Also, for further clarification, is there any error indicated on the screen prior to the machine turning off?

Thanks,
Rob

Boot to the 1 time boot menu (F12 button at Dell Screen) and run diagnostics on the system.

You could have a failing hard drive or other hardware malfunction.

If Diagnostics pass,Try booting to the SAFE MODE (F8 at Dell Sceeen) and try running system restore to before the errors started.

My inspiron 1525 will shut down every 15mins or so. i don't what is wrong with it.

Most likely, if you have not set the power settings in the control panel to do this, you have a heat problem.
This can be tested by turning on the computer and using it until it freezes or turns off. Wait a few minutes and if it turns on again, it is most likely heat. Check to see if the cooling fan is running. Also, with canned air, blow out the dirt that accumulates in the case.

Sounds like a loose connection or bad capacitor. If it's a loose connection then after the initial three minutes of warming up the connection separates that's why you only get a picture for 15 seconds after rebooting. If it's a bad capacitor the same is true but for a different reason. The bad capacitor will work until it gets too hot then you're out of luck again. It could be the LCD or the video card.

Dell Inspiron 1525 not turning on

hi. I suspect that you have either a dead battery or just need a reset. unplug the power cord and then remove the battery. wait two minutes and reinstall the battery.
this will reset everything. now try turning it on. if it won't come on plug in the power cord and charge the battery for 30 minutes before attempting to power up.
