Black screen ps3 play

Where are you seeing the black screen?
If it is during game startup, then the game file could be corrupted:
Move selection to the game title that is causing the black screen and pres the triangle button for options, select "delete".

Then do a database rebuild (This also erases any messages, but will not lose game data or account info) -
Eject any disk that may be in your PS3, and power off.
Press and hold the power button on the console, until it cycles on and then shuts itself off.
Press and hold again until the console beeps once, and then rapidly beeps again two times.
A maintenence menu screen should appear, from that, select "rebuild database".
When it is finished, it should automaticly restart.
Then go to Playstation Store and re-download.
Reinstall and run to get it to update the game again and it should work fine.

If you mean that you only get a black screen when you turn on your PS3, then it could be set to the wrong video output. To get it to automaticly detect your video, use the procedure to get to the maintanence menu and it will display text asking for video setting:
Eject any disk that may be in your PS3, and power off.
Press and hold the power button on the console, until it cycles on and then shuts itself off.
Press and hold again until the console beeps once, and then rapidly beeps again two times.
Text should appear saying whether it detects HDMI video or not, if you see the text, then select "yes", otherwise simply wait a moment and it will switch to composite automaticly.

Ps3 to my Yamaha receiver RX-V563??

Well I'm guessing you want to play your playstation through HDMI? If so are you currently using scart lead red white and yellow. What you have to do is use the scart lead red white and yellow and connect to the tv and connect the HDMI to the Yamaha as you do already. Turn on using tv go to Settings>video output change to HDMI then done

No signal from the RCA output on ps3 but works fine through hdmi cable

Ok...little trick......ready????? Hook up your rca cord to tv....Make sure hdmi cord is not plugged in. Have your ps3 where its on standby (redlight). Push and hold your power button down for about 5-7 seconds....you should hear a beep or 2. let off button....wait a few seconds and you should be in business.....The ps3 automatically detects hdmi....but if you switch back to rca you have to reset it.....Let me know if this helps

I put in my mw2 disk and it won't load and goes

Hello

If you took your PlayStation 3 to a friend's house and hooked it up to his HDTV with an HDMI cable, you may have been in for a surprise when you got home to your older television. If you didn't change the video output back to the regular AV cable, your system will still output video to a port you now can't use.

Connect your PlayStation 3 to your television with the composite yellow, white and red AV cables and plug the system in to the power outlet. You can also use a component cable if you own one and your TV supports it. If you already turned the system on and see no video, turn it back off with the power button.

Press and hold the power button until you hear two beeps after about five seconds. The system will reset to SD output on the AV cable and proceed to boot normally.

Press the "PS" button on a controller to turn it on and log in to your user account. The reset process removes all video settings, so you will need to choose your options again.

Select the "Settings" menu and pick "Display Settings" and then "Video Output Settings."

Proceed through the settings to select TV type and resolution. If using the composite AV cable included with the system, settings should be correct automatically after resetting, but verify them to be sure. If you're switching to a component cable on an HDTV, you will have to reselect the compatible HD resolutions of your television.

Save the settings and continue using your system as normal.

Ps3 turns on but theres no picture then after about 40seconds it goes into standyby any ideas on whats up with it? dont think its ylod or rlod as theres no beeping or flashing on the lights

It's probably a problem of VIDEO/AUDIO output.
1) Make sure that your monitor is properly set to the right medium used (HDMI?)
2) When you start your Playstation 3, press and HOLD down the power button until it makes a sound. This will change the playstation 3 video/audio output.
This should fix your problem, as your playstation 3 is probably trying to output the video in a different format than the one you are currently physically trying to. Pressing and holding the power button at start makes the switch from hdmi to vga.

Canrt seem to get a connection from box to the tv.all wires are in correct .have tried the hold the button untill it beeps twice an still no picture. platstation 3 3-275772-01

  1. Make sure the AV Cable is connected to the AV MULTI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the AV Cable into the yellow port for video, and into the white and red audio ports on the back of your TV.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive ON/OFF button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically be reset to the Standard Resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

PS3 wont play pictures after getting out 3 stuck DVDs

pay 150 bucks to sony to fix the dvd drive or buy a new ps3 and sell the broken one on ebay for about 120 to 150 just sell the console only. you should get a little more if you include the controllers and a/v or hdmi cables. Sounds like you ruined the laser eye ( reads the disc for audio and video)

I am currently trying to hook up my playstation to my t.v. in the hotel & I have tried component cable, as well as an HDMI cable & the t.v. shows the cable is plugged in on the icon screen but...

connect the HDMI cable to the TV, then hold the "on/off" button on the ps3 for a few seconds, this causes the output settings to reset and the video/sound should work.

PS3 screen flash / sound cut-out

The PS3 has an issue with what's called the "HDMI handshake" between the PS3 and the TV. The PS3 does not even realise that this is happening. What you might try to do is turn the system on, play a game, and when the flashing and no sound occurs, unplug the HDMI cable from your PS3, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. This may resolve your issue. If it doesn't work, try component cables, there is no known issue with this problem occuring with this type of connection. Good luck!
