Well LCD monitors don't have bulbs, per say. They have two tubes called inverters that supply a backlight. They are on each side of the monitor, about 8 inches long and pencil thin. You can buy them off of the Internet on sites like NewEgg if you are experienced in electricity. Otherwise, it would probably be best bringing it to a shop or to the manufacturer to get it checked out. Reason I say that is when monitors have problems they are reverse of what you are experiencing. They start bright and dim versus start dim then bright. If the inverters are bad then you get no light at all, as opposed to dim then to light. But it is a very high quality monitor and you should not be having any problems..finally there are other little things that can cause it, for instance I have a monitor that is always dim and I have to press the keyboard arrow keys from dim to bright each time. Its a faulty keyboard not monitor..So nothing major on your monitor but it would be worth it to have someone at least ensure you it is working correctly. Good Luck. Please rate this solution.

The monitor is going bad. The capacitors that drive the screen are getting weak. It is too expensive to fix, you'll need a new monitor.

My OCD LOCKED keeps popping up on my LM-965W Norcent LCD display how do I fix it. I have no manual or instruction book.

I am having about the same problem with my monitor. The solution I was given, was to take my monitor to a repair shop and have them mess with the rubber behind the buttons, because they are sticking. Or save your $ and do it yourself.

Dim monitar with flickering screen

Hello,

The problem can be caused by 1 of 2 things either your power supply is going out or the backlight bulbs are going out. The most likely cause is the power supply. If you are willing to do a little soldering you should be able to do the repair. If you go to our web site at: www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We have a section on monitor repair. Look under the Samsung 930B it is the same as your monitor.
If you don't want to do it yourself we do offer a repair service, email me if you are in need of that.

I hope this helps.

Dell lcd monitor, turns on but only stays on for about 30sec

The problem is your backlight lamp is bad. Your description is of very classic symptoms for the backlight. You can either replace the LCD assembly or monitor or try replacing the backlight bulb itself. You'd have to call around to some repair shops to see what they'd charge to see if it is worth it to you to fix it or replace it. Here is a link to a site online that shows the bulbs and how to replace them if you want.

Sumsung 930b goes dim,and flickers after about 3 min.

This sounds like the inverter has gone bad. If the bulb were bad only, you would see a faint image on the screen with a flashlight.

The problem is on this monitor, it will probably cost about $100 or so to take it to a shop to get it fixed, and that is nearing the cost of a new monitor.

If you are a little bit handy, and can disassemble the monitor, you can replace the inverter. The hardest thing about this, is getting the monitor faceplate open. Just use something firm and softer, such as a nylon spudger (this is something you can find online) or you can carefully use a thin scredriver. You just have to be careful, those cases are really tight.

Here is a good guide for general ideas on how it is done.

That's better.
Yep, 95% chance it is the power inverter problem.
If you don't remember the screen having a pink tint or flickering for a while or being dark at the middle top or bottom before it went, then your bulbs should be okay.
It will need at least all the capacitors replaced.
I fix many of these types on ebay.

Monitor stays dim

Chances are it's not the actual CFL back-light bulbs themselves, but the back-light inverter board. If it was the bulbs you would have not had the "warm up and it get bright" issue. The board IS replaceable, (as well as the bulbs) ViewSonic charges about $36.00 USD for the board when they have them in stock. (out of stock as of yesterday 11/14/2006) It should be covered under warranty if you got longer than one year. (I know the warranty was only one year on MY VA800 but I have seen longer offered since i got mine) Good Luck I hope this helps! El Duderino
