Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
First, make sure you are trying to play a Playstation 3 game only. Most of the PS2 games are not backward compatible with many of the PS3 systems. If you give me your model number (on the box or on the back of your PS3) and it is model # CHCHE01, CHCHA01 or CHCHB01, these are the only models that are backward compatible with PS2 games, also, they will have 4 USB ports on the front of your system (or maybe 2 in front 2 in back I'm not sure) but if you only have 2 USB ports and it is not one of the model numbers listed, it will NOT play most PS2 games. I don't know why they did this but it doesn't make sence.

Next, try a different game, If you are trying to play PS3 games one of them should work. Check the disk to make sure there are no scratches or dust or fingerprints on the disk, even a small finger print can cause it to not load correctly because of the detail and power of the blue ray technology.
Then, try turning off the system by first shutting down the system until you have a red light on the front, then turning off the power switch in the back of the system to remove any power from the unit and finally, unplug the system from the wall outlet. Wait about 10-20 minutes and power it all back up.
If none of these steps solved your problem, you'll have to contact playstation through their website and have them repair your system. They do not have any repair facilities outside of the Sony company and they won't sell or give out any repair manuals or schematics on internal workings of the PS3 system. If you haven't had your PS3 very long, it's most likely still under warrenty and won't cost you anything to get it fixed.
Good luck and I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate and if you have any other questions regarding this problem, post a comment to this thread so we can see what we've already tried so far. Thank you!
