Find the short, could be in the switch or a wire itself...and if you have a bulb out it complicates finding it even morenew fuse it, then turn things back on one at a time...should tell u where the problem is

SOURCE: Dashboard and tail lights out on 97" Nissan Sentra

I took my pathfinder to U-HAUL and asked them to check the towing lights. There was a pinched wire by my tail light and they cut it and changed it out for me, it was $5. I am so glad that I didnt take it to Nissan. My second step was going to be getting a new dimmer switch..but the guy who worked on my car said that wouldnt be the problem. He also told me that replacing a fuse that kept blowing out was dangerous and after the first time to get it checked out. Learn something new every day!!

SOURCE: tail lights on 2004 nissan maxima out.

hey i just fixed mine with the same exact problem, look, all you have to do is open your 3rd fuse box which is next to your washing fluid on the passenger´s side under the hood, for that you need to remove the cover wich is pretty easy (5 staples all you need is a thin flat screw driver to lift the center of the staple and then the whole staple) then you take off the cover and then you open the fuse cover, you are looking for the TAILLIGHT fuse wich is the first on the upper row from right to left if you are standing on the passenger side looking towards the drivers side (you can also look for that fuse in the fuse box cover diagram) remembre is a 15A fuse, replace it, jaja and thats how you save some dollars. saludos desde guadalajara mexico.

SOURCE: No tail lights, tag light, dash board lights in 97 Nissan Maxima

If you don't have a manual, just get a test light, and ground it to your door hinge. At the back of every fuse, you will see part of the metal filament showing through. Touch your test light to each side of the fuse. You should have power to both sides of every fuse (when your key is on). If no voltage on one side, the fuse is burnt.

SOURCE: replaced tail light fuse, which turned on tail

most likely you have a short in one of the bulb connectors or the hot wire from them is pinched on medal somewhere. Or you have water intrusion shorting one out. Inspect the bulbs. Leave both bulbs out. install fuse. Press brake pedal several times and hold. Inspect fuse. if its blown its the pedal switch that's bad or a pinched wire from there. If good put one bulb in. Test again,, then the next bulb. If you see something obvious fix it.

I have a 2005 nissan maxima se 3.5 v6, my instrument cluster and dash lights go out when I turn the headlight switch on the go on but cluster goes out. When I turn the headlights off the cluster comes back...

My first suggestion is to check the dimmer on the dash. There should be a rotatable wheel on the dash. Make sure it is on fully.

Check to see if the dash lights work in the parking light setting. If they do there, but not with the headlights on, my bet would be the contacts/wiring in the switch itself.

he problem is the dimmer switch it self. This kinda problem happens a lot with nissan's

04 Nissan maxima tail lghts don't always come on right away thought maybe headlight switch not sure need help

Download 2004 Nissan Maxima Lighting System Section LT PDF Manual 190 Pages Do you know how to do electrical testing with volt ohm meter ? Do you know what a BCM is ? COMPUTER !
Control of the parking, license plate, and tail lamp operation is dependent upon the position of the lighting switch (combination switch). When the lighting switch is placed in the 1ST position, the BCM (body control module) receives input signal requesting the parking, license plate, side marker and tail lamps to illuminate. This input signal is communicated to the IPDM E/R (intelligent power distribution module engine room) across the CAN communication lines. The CPU (central processing unit) of the IPDM E/R controls the tail lamp relay coil. This relay, when energized, directs power to the parking, license plate, rear side marker and tail lamps, which then illuminate.

Why isnt my tail lights or dash light not working but headlights and break lights are working on my 1998 Nissan altima?

Hi, the basic elec. Design. Of auto lighting circuits is based on this concept. Dash lights and tail lights use the same feed, For example, if a dash light. Was shorted, you will lose dash and tail lights, Assuming. your stereo has the factory system, this is where. I would start. First chk your fuses, if they are ok, your. issue. may be your dash dimmer,, or worse cas, your muttifunction switch may be def.

My headlights go off when I turn on my headlight or when the daylights are on and it's not the dimmer

I would look at the dimmer even though you don't think that is not the problem.

2004 Maxima, front, rear running lights, dash dimmer don't work. Lamps and fuses are good. Possible cause(s)?

All lighting fuses and relays are in a plastic box under the hood close to the battery on top of the inner fender well. Do not mess with the computer, it has nothing to do with the lights. check every fuse in the box under the hood.

2000 Nissan Maxima. Headlights work but tail lights won't come on. How do you fix the wiring of this?I have changed the bulbs and nothing. The brake, reverse, and turn signal lights work, so the bulbs...

tail lights work on a different filament than the rest of the lights you mentioned, it is possible both bulbs are burned out for that filament. if not, check the fuses as the tail light circuit in some cars is on a seperate fuse. the remaining possibility could be bad socket contacts.
