Sounds like a tuner problem if you can't get the channels to work through the 75 ohm screw in connector in the back of the set . Now if you use a cable box or satelite box you can use the yellow-red-white connectors out of the box and into the video inputs in the back of the tv . Hopefully you have more than one input in the back of your set as you might already be using one of them for the dvd player .

Some of their very old sets the video input was located on channels in the 90's; Try scrolling down from 99 to 90 to see if you locate the video input; this is just the way they did things in the older sets.

I cannot get the Vcr/ Dvd to play

The TV needs to be on channel 3 not channel 3.1 because is a digital channel and the signal from the VCR is analog. Tune the TV to channel 3 to get the analog video from the VCR.

if your DVD player supports a HDMI cable a single cable is enough for both audio and video channel.

but both your player and TV must support HDMI.
