Removing the hot & cold control knob from the shower.

My father has removed the actual knob, but there is some kind of stem or pipe that is sticking out now that we can't remove. Can you help?

If you are referring to an old price pfister or Gerber faucet then you're probably talking about the faucet stems. Your local hardware should carry stem removers or "cow bells" in sets of 5 or 6. They will range in size depending on the stem you are removing. Insert into place then turn counter clockwise with a pair of pliers. Hope this helps.

You have to remove the large chrome nut that is holding the ball in the socket. Make sure you have the drain closed so you don't lose the cups and springs when they come out.

I have a mira duo shower why does it make a high pitched squeal when in use the shower is onley 3 months old and has done this from new

Hi Derek

I trust you are well

Sounds like it might be a air bubble in the waer pipes, try removing the shower head and run the hot and cold water together for a minute, then remember to FIRST TURN OFF THE HOT WATER then turn off the cold water and replace the shower head and test as normal.

Hope this helps

Kind regards

Climate control knob is backwards

Hi! Those knobs and stems are indexed. Most likely the knob is cracked and will go on in any position. Check knob/stem for a small metal D shaped sleeve that may have come off or stuck on the stem. Remove that and then buy a new knob. They can be purchased at most auto parts. They are in-expensive. Line up the D shape of the stem with the knob and push it on.

I can't seem to adjust the temperature once I've turned the shower on. Once it gets hot, I can't get it cooler.

is the cold water on! if yes you probably have to remove the cold water knob and stem, to investagate it. the rubber on bottom of the stem may have fallen off and blocking cold water flow. Just check it out !

Middle valves not sending the water to shower head

the diverter screw has come loose in the diverter stem. It is the center knob that turns on
the shower. If it is american standard, they were noted for this. You may want to shut off
water to the shower itself at the shutoffs but USUALLY not necessary as long as you dont
bump the hot/cold knobs while removing the diverter stem.

Remove the cover and or screw from the handle and remove it.
then remove the decorative escutcheon cover and tube by unscrewing
it counterclockwise.
(There may be a small set screw on the underside of the cover to loosen)

The stem unscrews counter clockwise as well and may take a small pipe wrench to loosen
Sometimes the screw becomes lodged in behind the seat and requires patience and a
pick to extract it (a short burst of water may eject it into the tub). Sometimes part of
the stem body becomes lodged in the manifold but can be removed with an internal pipe
wrench set (home depot carries them for about 12 dollars).

We installed two new single handle shower faucets with both hot and cold supply lines pressurized to each of the faucets. The problem is that no hot water will come out of either faucets. Their seems to be...

Sounds like the valve is defective. The supply to the stems was not bored out at the factory giving you a valve that is essentially pretty on the outside and solid on the inside. To test it, uninstall the valve. Remove the stems. Then try running a pipe cleaner though the valve from the supply side and see if it stops before the stem.

Replace inside stem on hot water Eljer shower faucet

Sounds like you might need a gear puller -- hardware stores would have them -- or auto parts.
Spray with contact cleaner wd-40 first, then install puller, depress ring and crank away at the puller.
