Question about Panasonic CT-36SX31 36" TV

1 Answer

TV decides to turn itself off now and then. A slap on its side restores power....for awhile. Sometimes, it turns itself back on w/o a slap. It's a good TV and want to keep it. How repair intermittent power loss?

Tv turns itself off but power light is still on

Check for any loose contacts at the power plug point. If mains power inerruption takes place, this kind of fault can occur.

My tv decides after being on for a while that it will turn itself off and wont turn back on for awhile. What causes this?

Your STK ICs could be the cause or alot of poor solder joints, But I would replace Both of your STKs they are big black ICs will have part number on them example STK392-570 Its just a matter of time TV will not come back on at all. for parts call Mats 1-800-628-1118

I also have an AKAI LCT3201AD that keeps turning off.

Bad power supply circuit....

Bad resistors, rectifiers, capacitors, or MOSFET devices. Your tv needs to be serviced, and for this problem it should be to expensive and should be 'sameday return. Its an easy fix.

Picture is really light in color screen is white

It sounds like you have bad solder joints in the tv. If you resolder the boards in the tv, it sounds like it will be fine. When you are slapping the tv, it is temproarly making contact again and fixing the picture..

Scattered black lines appear then screen gos black, but still have good volume

Hello 4fiddy,

You have actually diagnosed your own problem, Let me explain; the line "I can slap the left side of the tv and picture will almost always come back on" This indicate some form of poor connection (cold solder joint). If you have a soldering iron, solder (circuit type not pipe type), and a multimeter. Use the soldering iron and solder to redo the cold solder joints , and then test it (the connection) with the multimeter.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Mitsubishi WS48511 TV will not power on completely.

have you checked the pico fuses on the bottom side of the PC board? They are small ceramic fuses soldered directly to the runners. They have been known to blow and your set will not power up. Hope this helps, if you need anything further let me know. Also sometimes the 1000uf caps don't show any signs of swelling but can still be bad.
