It turns on and shuts off.

For my YAMAHA RX-V795a, Replaced the relay DG1U, which is controlled by the on/off button. Because the switching contacts in the relay were burned in. (Relay of which you hear the click when you switch on or off)
And everything works again. But replacing it is a bit of work...

You have to, after opening the case, among other things, loosen the screws of the main transformer and some more things, to be able to turn over the PCB on which the relay sits, to loosen the 4 solder points of the relay.
The relay is Type DG1U, 12VDC coil , switching contacts 8A 250V AC and is a Chinese brand DEC.
They are sold by Aliexpress, among others.

Philips Magnavox 32MT3305 keeps shutting off with relay clicking. The green power light stays on but the picture and sound go out right after the orange status bar goes away. If the channel up or down...

the relay is the safety protective device..sometimes a defective component or something. maybe an overloaded power supply might caused this problem..so before any thing could gets worst..the relay will shut the unit..

Won't turn on - relay clicks, power supply squeals, relay clicks, etc,

The television has a protection circuit. Sound like you know something about electronics so that is cool.

I suspect the HOT or High Voltage Transformer. If you want to operate on it, they typically will short externally from moisture or plastic high voltage breakdown. The TV starts, shorts as it cannot come to full high voltage, then shuts down. If your brave, you can unsolder the HOT which is the part that is on the main board or that comes from the top of the picture tube wire into a dark or spaceship type object.look underneath, sometimes they short underneath and you can scrap the carbon and get it to at least start up and work. Do not leave this as a fix as it can be a fire hazard.

The HOT is the most common. They are around 20-60 bucks. 34" TV. I am assuming this one without looking it up it is NOT a flat screen, as most do not squeal like that nor do they have to de-gausse like the old ones. I just looked it up and yes it is not a flat screen. Old school, so that is more thank likely the problem.

Won't stay powered on

There is a relay right next to the fuses on the inside dg1u it says on the top. I cleaned it and pressed down firmly on it and it seem to have fixed it. It fired up for the first time.. The relay might need to be replaced if this doesnt work for ya.
