Question about RIM BlackBerry ® 8830 Cellular Phone

5 Answers

I received a refurbished Blackberry 8830 World Edition phone and I am having problems pairing it with the Bluetooth device in my car. With my previous Blackberry 8830 World Edition phone, I did not have any problems. The problem is that the Blackberry does not allow me to enter the Security Code. When I try to pair the device, it searches and finds the device in my car. Once I tell it to connect, the screen to enter the Security Code flashes on the screen and then it gives me a message that it could not connect and asks me if I want to try again. It does not allow me to enter the security code. It just flashes the screen and tells me it cannot connect.

I reset my device but taking out the battery for 20 minutes like another user suggested but it did not work. I am going to try updating the software by using the Desktop Manager and see if that works.

I went to the Blackberry Desktop and checked for updates and it said my device had the latest updates so the latest solution did not work.

  • yotvata Mar 11, 2009

I have reset my device, checked for updates and according to the Desktop Manager, I have all the latest updates. Any other suggestions?

In the end, the problem was with my Bluetooth device in my car. I had named my Blackberry the same name and the Bluetooth device in my car was denying the connection because it thought it was already paired with this device. When I removed the device from the Bluetooth in my car, it allowed me to pair the device.

You need to change the security options on the blackberry, go to security options and enter the password, once you have chose a password, use that password to connect.

What i observed by all the answers, as you already update the softwares, its already reset, you are well aware of the basic pairing and you have the code as well...

Try to pair the bluetooth with other device.

If that;s work, than something is wrong in the car.Unless its cell. and we can look further...

But as far as i know your cell is fine...

Thanks.

As it should allow to enter the security code .if its not allowing that means its the software problem in your device it should be commected to the pc and the device should be upgraded with the latest software of it.then only it will support to enter the security code.

try a reset on your device and restore its original settings.  here are instructions on how to wipe all the personal information from your phone and reset it to its original factory settings.Navigate to Options > Security Options > General Settings > Services xxx no services xxx > Wipe Handheld
You’ll be presented with a warning about information and services being lost.
    Select: Include 3rd Party Applications
    Continue
    Enter: “blackberry” to confirm.
Allow about 10 minutes and you’ll have a factory restored device.

I have a new bb 8830 world edition phone on a Vodafone GSM network. I have requested for the bb service to be activated. Which the service provder has. Unfortunately, the settings are not received by my BB...

Looks like you just change your original sim card with other network sim card. You must unlock your blackberry first before you can using other network in your phone. What you need is blackberry 8830 unlock code from your original phone network sim card. You can get blackberry unlock code from network provider or buy from third party sites which have lower cost rather than network provider.
