Sir or Ma'am: I recently purchased 2 new LG flat-screen HD TV's. Then about 10 days ago, I switched my TV, phone and internet provider from Comcast to AT&T. The only problem I have is the remotes that came with AT&T will not do the mute function on either TV. The AT&T tech actually programmed the remotes when he installed the system in my house and the remotes will do everything else like volume, turn on and off, but not mute. The TV code for LG brand listed in their remote control program handout has only 1 code listed.....1005. Do you know of another code I can try? Or can I program the mute function separately on my remote?

It sounds that the audio output section circuit has the fault. Check it audio out pre-amp sockets at its back, connected to any external Amp. See whether audio comes out by this way. If not, the main digital board is faulty. If yes, audio output section is faulty.
Dear Sir: Follow this step:
Turn on the TV and grab the remote. In most cases, you will
need the original remote to unlock the TV if you aren't sure of the
unlock code. If you don't have the original remote, you will need to
Look at the screen. If you see a blank screen with a red key
on the bottom of the screen, press 'Function' and 'Mute' at the same
time. This should unlock the channel. This is an option for people who
want the TV to stay locked but, want to be able to bypass the lock to
watch a certain show or channel. All other channels will remain locked
and the TV will fully lock when it is turned off.
Ur tv mute button might not be function anymore, because of rubber inner layer are worn out or the main CPU chip of the remote itself it shorted causes this problems.U have a Digital Camera, turn it on.Put the tv remote wright in front of the camera press the remote mute button,u will see on the camera viewing screen the mute button work or not wright away because Digital camera can read infer red signal output.Try website like Remotes.com to buy a new original remote or a very closed compatible one.
Its going into standby mode and unless you hit a button on the remote or the TV, the TV assumes you are not watching and turns it off as a power saving feature. You used to be able to disable this feature by holding down menu on your remote and holding down menu on the TV for about 10 seconds however with this model TV that option is not available with the remote provided. I'm told you need to purchase a 105-102M Service Remote and that will allow you to get to the service menu to disable the Standby feature. Good Luck!

This could be bad capacitors on the power supply board. My LG 42LB1DR has a known problem with this and I replaced the four bac capacitors myself and saved 5-6 hundered dollars that I was also told that it would cost to fix. I fixed for under 10 dollars and about 20 minutes. LG knows about it but they dont really want to admit it. My TV was only 26 months old when this happened. The four capacitors are made by Samxon and are 2200uf @ 10v. They are junk so even if you have the entire board replaced for say $200 its just going to happen again. They need to be replaced with a different brand.
