Roach invasion left detritus on A&E conotrol panel

Called repairman, who said Part #8531234 on ribbon cable to PC board (bar code R3M309ZA on board) needed to be replaced. Dishwasher still under warranty when situation occurred in 2006 but condition not covered. Repairman said replacement would cost $500 (original cost of entire machine). I could not and still cannot afford that so have been using DW as dish drainer. Now, with old age and arthritis I need the dishwasher but don't know where to turn. I certainly cannot afford a new one!

How do i determine if my Maytag dishwasher needs a new control panel or control board

Remove the cover on the inner side of the door and expose the backside of the panel and control board wiring. Look at the wiring and see if you see a burned cable. That may point you to where the problem is. I have seen burned wiring in that location, especially leading to the control panel itself having burned ribbon cable.

My IKEA dishwasher Renlig DWT160 will not turn on no lights. I've checked the fuse and power supply

If the unit is totally dead, the main board most likely is blown. You say you checked the "fuse"--is there a fuse on the dishwasher or are you referring to the electrical panel fuse box in your house? Did you recently have a power outage? Usually, within 3-4 weeks after having one, appliances will start failing due to damaged chips on the main control boards. The problem could also be a damaged user interface board. If 120volts is getting to the main board but the unit is dead, I'd highly suspect the board is bad. I've also seen lots of bug infestation damage to boards--classic signs are roach tracks in and around the boards--they're attracted to the warmth and will walk across the live boards, shorting them out.

Kenmore model 665 Locked on button is blinking how

It could be a stuck key on the keypad. However, you can try resetting it by pressing and holding the NO HEAT DRY or AIR DRY button for 10 seconds or so (or until the lock light turns off).

If that doesn't do it, try turning off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher for a good 15 minutes before turning it back on.

If that doesn't do it, turn of the circuit breaker, take the dishwasher door apart and disconnect the cable (I seem to recall that it's a ribbon cable on your model) from the user interface panel to the main control board. Clean the ribbon cable contacts with some alcohol and a toothbrush. Let it dry for a good while (about 15 or 20 minutes). Plug the cable back in and put it all back together. Turn on the power and see if that corrected it.

If that doesn't do it, then you probably have a bad user interface panel or, less likely, a main control board.

Good luck

My clean light is flashing and the lock light is on, on my whirlpool dishwasher. I've tried the reset code of HD/N/HD/N and it didn't work! What can I do?

What is the model? If you take the panel off you can test the control board and controller by unhooking the ribbon cable from the controller to the keyboard. Then close the door. If the pump comes on, it is the control panel, if the pump does not come on it is the control board.

I have a Kitchenaid Dishwasher that the two panel lights labeled 'normal' and 'cancel' are blinking and it is will not run. Anyone have any ideas? .

That is a problem with the communication between the control board and the control panel...
Kill all power to the DW...
Remove the back of the door...
Then find the ribbon cable going from the control board to the control panel...clean the ends with alcohol...
Then try it again...if it still does it then replace the ribbon cable and the control panel...

Buy the parts from they have a 365 day return policy so you can return any parts if they prove not to be the here..

Im having trouble with my dishwasher it turns on but it wont come on when i push any of the functions eg superwash

From your description it sounds like some of the keys on the control panel are not working. If that is correct than you will need to replace the control panel/keypad. There are some techs who have luck disconnecting the ribbon cable connecting the control panel to the board and cleaning it with an eraser head. Then reinsert the ribbon cable and retest. Some times you can visually see a hairline crack on the ribbon cable which cannot be fixed. My recommendation would be to change out this piece and have your dishwasher up and running sooner.
Please rate me a "4 thumbs" if my answer was helpful. Best of luck!

MDBH945AWW maytag dishwasher panel lights will not light up. checked breaker and was not tripped. Hardwired circuit. will check tomorrow to be sure power gets to dishwasher. Suspect have panel control...

These control boards do not have fuses on them. I opened mine up when the front panel touch pad stopped working and the LED indicators were anemic. This is a sign of the ribbon cable connections have oxidized. The ribbon cable connects the touch pad to the control board.
Others have written up nice solutions on similar Maytag diswashers with the touch pad.

The previous expert shows that you can diagnose this by using a 10k resistor and connecting pin 6 and 10 on the ribbon cable connector and it will start the dishwasher (you have to trip the door handle and carefully do this with the power on). This proves that the control board is fine and ribbon cable connections are the problem. Don't forget to quickly trip the door latch once the dishwasher starts.

My solution was to purchase a contact cleaner called Deoxit. You can order from or get at Frys. Spray Deoxit on both the ribbon cable end (removed) and into the connector on the control board. Deoxit removed the oxide on the connectors. The twin pack Deoxit spray comes with a solution that helps prevent corrosion. I am 1 day into the successful repair of this model Maytag dishwasher.

Previous people have suggested heat and steam get into the control board and oxidize this connector. I notice on the top right where the control board sits, there is a gap to allow steam to get into the door/control board area. I used bathroom caulk to seal both sides of the door to hopefully prevent further corrosion.

Dishwasher stopped and will not start

Try jigling the ribbon cable that is connected to the control panel. These ribbon cables sometimes fail. Also check the fuse on the control board to see if it is blown.
