(More) hi i have a HP compaq nc6000 laptop, and when i try to start it up all i get is noise of fan starting up with one glowing orange light next to a lightning bolt like symbol. IWhen I turn ON my laptop first time HP Compaq nc6000, sometimes the orange LED will just light up and nothing happens, sometimes when I get lucky I will be able to goto Windows. when start work properly.
it seems that your hard disk is not getting in to Operating System. All you need is to check your drive thoroughly and reinstall OS....reason could be any thing, may be some virus has deleted system files or your drive may have develop some bad sector...
If you get an error message - non system or disk error and the hard disk is not detected in the BIOS, then you most likely have a faulty hard disk and chances are you have also lost all your data.
If you are desparate to recover your data, there are data recovery companies that can retrieve data from faulty hard disks but it will cost you an arm and a leg for their services.
To get you computer operational again, you will need to replace the hard disk and install Windows, all the device drivers and your programs.
On this kind of error, the only option you could do is to format your system, but if you are not so familiar in formatting your laptop, I suggest that you bring laptop to service tech, to easily perform error checking and reformatting. This error might be virus or software problems.

Please check in the BIOS whether it is able to detect the hard disk?
