Question about Rio Forge Sport Digital Media Player

Forge not recognizing SD Card

My Rio Forge is not recognizing the 512 MB SD Card I have in it. All the songs are stored on internal memory and 119MB is used. When I go to add a new song it says there is not enough space. I read the help feature and it says that the Forge should automatically default from internal memory over to SD space. Any help on this would be welcomed- thanks!

Remove tracks from the internal memory. There has to be enough room on the internal memory for it to keep track of the music on the SD card.

The socket where card is installed may have internal loose element so its not detecting.check out the card in another device and also check another card in your device.this will confirm the fault.

Having trouble getting my Rio Forge to work

Mine wasn't recognising the player through the USB cable so I followed Mantraguy's instructions to reload the firmware. Make sure though that you hold down the menu key before you switch on the player. Then it shows upgrade and you can reload the firmware. Of course you will lose all the songs on the internal memory but if it isn't working anyway.

good luck

Plug your player into your computer via USB. If Windows recognizes it, a new drive should show up under "My Computer". It may be called "Removeable media". It may be some letter like "G" or "H". If you have an SD card bigger than 512 MB, then find the removeable drive that is bigger than 512 MB that shows up when you plug in your MP3 player and that drive is your SD card.

512 MB SD CARD

Once you insert the memory card I believe it mixes the songs on the player's internal memory with the memory card's songs.

Press the MENU and turn it on, as soon as the word RIO shows on the screen release the power button but do not release the MENU button until it says upgrading
Plug the USB cord to it and install Rio Forge Firmware_120
Turn the mp3 off then on normally
Put the music back on your mp3 and it SHOULD be fixed. but your music will be gone..

hope this helps,

You need to connect the Rio to a PC and then use the Windows Explorer format disk feature to reformat the Forge's flash memory as a FAT32 partition.
