You and your friend must both install software that is written for web communication like Windows Live Messenger. Once you do, you both will have user names that you must share with each other, then you will be able to establish two way comminucations via the web cam. This is a free download so try this link, then send it to your friend:
Please note that all these builtin webcams normally are bundled with a free software utility. You can find the software in Start, All Programs list.
Once you have found the software that controls your webcam (it will be something like " HP Quickplay" etc.,
Run that software and take still shots/ or record video.
"right click" on the program's menu and see the path of the file.
This will help you in find the location of this installed application.
Go to this location (folder) and if you have taken any images with the Webcam software, you will find them there.
Please dont rate the solution yet if it doesnt solve the problem.
Please contact me if you need any further help.
this could be a corrupt usb controller or web cam driver; but before we get too deep when it is booting up press F8 and you will get a menu, one of which will say, start windows with 'last known good configuration', highlight line the press enter for a restart.
If no luck with boot up come back.
