How can i connect my samsung hdd to my pc

it's an external hdd? you should only have to plug into any available USB port on your computer and it should be recognized. If you have an older PC running Windows 98/Windows 2000/Windows XP, you may have to install the driver manually

When I plunged in FANTOM firewire and USB external HD (I only use the USB) at windows start it said it wanted to (blue screen) check drive for errors. I agreed and it stopped half way at 41% and did not go...

It is entirely possible that your external hard drive is failing. I would recommend downloading Seatools for Windows (link below) and run extended hard drive test on it. Chances are if it is failing, it still recognizes within the system, but it is not readable enough for windows to display it and allow you to browse.

Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not detected, then there is a hardware problem. Exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

Toshiba 500 GB External Hard drive cant be detected by windows xp

yes you could simply format the harddrive in Fat32 using your macos that would be the best solution but don`t forget to backup your data by copy pasting the files on your mac or something else and after that to move them on the external hdd again to be available on the windows machine

My new portable hdd is not getting detected on my xp

Your USB ports may be version 1.1

You need a USB "Y" cable.
The USB Y cable uses two USB ports on your laptop and the third plugs into the external HDD.

Check RadioShack or maybe the vendor has a USB Y cable.

This will work!

Fantom Drive TFDU16072A Error

2009 06 30 - I just had a similar problem. The Fantom external drive was working fine, but I had to shut down due to a thunderstorm. When I restarted the PC, the drive was not showing up. WHAT I FOUND: First, I didn't find this solution anywhere - everything seemed to point to a new install (or at least how to reformat and start over.) BUT, I right clicked on Computer, Manage, Disk Management - it still didn't show. On the right, under More Actions, I clicked 'rescan disks'. Now it shows up! And all of my data is right there. Whew!
