Most of what I have found in these sets is a bad capacitor in the power section of the main board 47mfd 63volt. It depends on the shop cost if it is worth fixing. I would expect cost of repair to be around $79 to $89 Some shops will be more so shop around

HCL652W picture faded will bulb replacement fix this

I would say that it is not worth replacing the bulbs. I had a similar experience with an old rear projection TV like that and I just cleaned all the dust out of it as well as I could. i cleaned the back of the screen, the mirror that the image reflects off of, and the bulbs themselves. I used a dry micro fiber cloth so as not to scratch anything. doing this might help you some, but if it is working and it is bright enough for you after a few minutes, I would just live with it until you can upgrade to a newer TV.

I have a Samsung 50" plasma HDTV, about 6 years

either backlight (flourescent bulb inside) or power supply for backlight went bad - if you have voltage meter you can check if there is voltage where bulb goes and if there is replace bulb or if no power you will need to trouble shoot power supply which is common thing to go bad on these sets.

it is usually not worth paying to get this fixed if it is power supply and you might be better off just getting new set - sorry i know that is not what you were hoping to hear but....

good luck!!

TV won't power on

Your model doesnt have a bulb. It has 3 CRTs instead. Sounds like something minor in the start up voltages. thereby allowing the start up relay to click then other times the relay doesnt click. So its either standby or start up supplies where the fault is. You can get a manual here at this link and also free support to help you figure it out.

The bulb recently burnt out. Need to replace it.

Your set doesnt have a bulb. Its a crt projection unit. Is the set completely dead? If so troubleshooting the power supply is needed. If the audio works but no picture, then the deflection/HV circuits will need troubleshooting. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Sony LCD projection TV - bulb problem

Hi! sweet123,

Please answer this question. Were the 4 bulbs visabley bad; say broken or did they have a milkey look, or broken wire inside? In other words did the bulbs you replaced look as good as a new unused bulb? Please reply.
