I have sound but no picture on my portable DVD player.

I have sound with my portable DVD player, but the screen is black and I cannot see anything. What is the problem and can it be fixed?

Yes it can be fixed.replace the capacitor c564 and c513 on the main circuit board to bring the picture back as this capacitors gets over heated and cause this problem.

do you get a splash screen when there is no Disc playing ( something that says something like DVD VIDEO). If not and the scren is just always black then it sounds like the backlighting circuit has failed

If the DVD is connected to the TV properly using the yellow, white & red AV cable and the TV is switched to AV and there is still no picture, plug the yellow lead from the back of the DVD player into the green socket. If you see a black and white picture now the DVD output is on Progressive Scan mode. See user manual to turn off Progressive Scan mode.

DVD screen is black

First check to see if there is a switch near the A/V jacks and ensure it isn't set to "in". If it is, your player is looking for an external source... Otherwise, if you mean you play a disc and get picture but no sound, then yes, the flourescet tube circuit is bad. There are no replacement parts available for that unit.

Hey, sounds like the backlight on the screen is gone, i aint sure where you could get a replacement for that model as its usually monitors i see the problem with. ie the screens is like black with very faint outline of the picture. Hope this helps John
