Do the Function keys work too or not? There are function keys that control the screen brightness, mute, volume, monitor swtiching etc.
If none of those keys work, download Dell's Utility software for the D600 here: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R171887&SystemID=LAT_PNT_PM_D600&servicetag=&os=WW1&osl=en&deviceid=3601&devlib=0&typecnt=0&vercnt=5&catid=-1&impid=-1&formatcnt=1&libid=7&fileid=233742
If all of the function keys work, then you may need the "power board" under the keyboard. It's a little circuit board that controls volome, mute and power. Available for eBay sometimes.
Hope this helps!

I CANNOT GET MY DELL LATITUDE D610 VOLUME TO WORK SINCE HAVING TO REINSTAL WINDOWS THERE IS NO VOLUME ICON AND NO NO VOLUME WHEN YOU PRESS THE VOLUME CONTROL

Go to "DeviceManager" and look if any yellow or red alerts are being displayed next to any device. Double click on that device and a window will pop opentelling you about the error. You can access the "Device Manager" bygoing to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "ComputerManagement" and select "Device Manager" located in the left sidecolumn, (assumption - laptop has Windows XP). If you need drivers, go to www.support.dell.com andselect "I'm looking for drivers and downloads". If you don't have theproper version of Adobe you will be prompted to install it. Once installedreturn to "drivers and downloads" and enter the "service tag",(serial number) of the computer. Dell keeps a listing of drivers for everycustomer's computer they sell.

I would like a manual for the latitude D610 keyboard to know how to use the symbol that are highlighted in bleu

In the lower left hand corner of your Dell Keyboard -- you will see a Blue Key labeled -- "Fn". This key allows you the use of ALL of the other blue labeled keys on your keyboard. You must press the FN key and the other "blue" key at the same time for them to work.

The keys on the right side of the keyboard with the blue numbers on them are controlled by the Numlock key and Fn key. The light at the top of the keyboard near the power button, with the number "9" inside a picture of a lock, will be lit if the Numlock is enabled.
You may need to press the Fn key to type numbers even if the Numlock is turned on. There is a setting in the BIOS called Enable Keypad and if you set it to By Numlock you will not have to hold down this key to type a number.

If you are still having trouble with these keys, please see the general keyboard troubleshooting guide

I DONT KNOW HOW TO ADJUST THE VOLUME OF THE LAPTOP USING THE KEYS

There is a function button near the bottom left on your keyboard (looks like [fn] ). You should be able to hold that button and find another key that shows the volume icon.
