Question about Xerox Phaser 8400 Laser Printer

Fault 37,002.47:338665 Service Needed Fault 37,002.47:338665 Fan runs. I tried restarting after turning off for 5 mins, without network cable attached. Fault code still appears. I telephoned Xerox engineer and they diagnosed a faulty print head. I am not an expert, but print quality was 100% fine just before the fault. Help!

From the service manual:

PEST - Left jetstack disconnect.The left jetstack is not drawing the expected power from
the supply.
1. Run the printhead Left Jetstack Heater test.
2. Verify printhead wiring.

Yes, could be faulty printhead, but could be faulty power supply as well.

Restart the printer without a network or USB cable attached. If the printer comes to ready then likely a firmware update will fix your problem. You will need to clear any print jobs from the queue on your computer so that you can reconnect the printer. Download the firmware upgrade from and follow the directions. If the printer will not come to ready with the network/USB cables disconnected then either the memory on the formatter is bad or you have another hardware issue such as bad formatter or other board in the printer.

Can you please explain what it means when my printer is always writing hp 49 Service Error?

What I found was this - I configured the printer with a static IP of and excluded this address in the DHCP reservation list so it wasn't allocated to another device. If I switched the printer on without the LAN cable attached the printer would say 'Ready', but as soon as I connected the LAN cable, that's when it would throw a wobbly and show 'Error 49 - Turn off then on'. I tried resetting the printer to factory defaults without any joy.

HERE's THE FIX (or shall I say a workaround) in this order:

1) Remove the LAN / Network cable from the printer.
2) Reset the printer to factory defaults.
3) Remove the DHCP reservation of from the server.
4) Delete the lease IP from the server.
5) Connect the LAN cable to the printer.
6) Let the printer obtain a new IP address. If it picks up the same IP again you need to go back to step 1 again.
7) That's it.

Hi stanz361,

I have been through this frustration,

What you need to do not is follow the below steps :-

Switch off your printer and unplug the power cable and unplug the cable.

Remove all the printer's driver / application that has been installed.

Then restart your system.

When you restart your system , connect the cable back to MAC and then download the latest drivers.

When you do this , try and print a page and this will be the solution for you.

Error 79;04 comes up saying the power is off. We have tried turning the power off for several minutes but when we put it back on have the same problem.

Unplug any USB or network cables from the printer and try to power cycle. This error indicates a problem with the firmware on the printer and if it restarts without any cables attached there is a chance that you will be able to download the newest firmware to the printer. If it restarts, clear any print jobs from the queue and then reconnect the communication cable. Then down load the current firmware from HP and install it. This should solve the problem.

IBM network printer 4317 has error 61

I get this error every time I start the printer. I press the ONLINE, CONTINUE/ENTER, PAGE EJECT, CANCEL PRINT keys (in that order) and the error goes away. I've been running this way for over 5 years.

Error code 19,003.48:7193

This error is a printhead calibration fault. The solutions are reset NVRAM, replace NVRAM, then replace the PRINTHEAD.
I would recommend calling a certified service technichian.

Cannot delete print jobs in queue

Instead of restarting, try this:
1. Start
2. Run
3. Type this in the box: services.msc
4. Hit ENTER
5. Scroll down to PRINT SPOOLER
6. Right-click on it and choose RESTART

This will clear out your print queue without having to restart. Good luck!!

Printer won't print

Have you first of all just turned the printer off and restarted it?
I assume you have, but just asking as a starting point.
Not sure how you are running it, so I will assume your running it via a ethernet connection.
Now where to start LOL.
1. Do you know the machine IP address? If so log into your browser, Internet Explorer, firefox,etc and enter the IP address into the address window and see if the printer information comes up. Also try and ping the printer. If that is not successful,
2. Check and or change the network cable to see if it comes on. You can look at the port on the back of the printer to see if the small green light goes on and off when you plug and unplug the network cable. If it is not on, suspect either a bad wall jack or cable connector.
3. On the printer, check the connectivity or network settings. Look under the IP settings, make sure it is not set to Auto. If it is, then the machine has most likely assigned itself a new IP address. If thats the case, if you have a configuration report from when the printer was set up, change the DCHP setting to manual or static, then re enter the IP address. You can also find the IP address assigned by looking into the printer properties, ports and see the IP address in the port assigned to the printer.
4. You can try running it on a USB cable, if you or a laptop is close enough to the printer. That way you can confirm a network or addressing problem. I will say, if there is a problem with in the printer, most of the time it will give you a fault code, and those printers are very stable when it comes to the NIC and other circiut boards, if it says ready, I very seriously doubt the printer itself is at issue.
5. You may have a bad router, someone turned on a firewall that is blocking the printer.

I suspect in order, an addressing issue, IP address related, or a bad cable.
