Question about HP Pavilion dv9000z Notebook

Sigh computer going good for 1.5 years. however 6 months before that wireless remained oj colored. knew something was going to happen when wireless failed. blue lights stayed on, screen didnt turn on and it tries to boot up but just reboots everytime. always bringing up my hopes. but not anymore!!! tried all the troubleshooting stuff, but im forced to say i had to use my last resort- the phone. hp was nice enough to offer me a free repair. its another 1 year (i think 1 year) warranty that comes after your warranty, so basically you would have a 2 year warranty. now the guys that fixed their own coms, i suggest you send it in before the time period ends. its most likely going to fail somewhere sooner or later, and the hp technical service said not only will they fix it, theyll upgrade it (im not quite sure if they were using the two words interchangeably here). this thread has helped me quite a bit, and i know most of you had (sorry if its have) the same experience. well while i pull my hair out in agony waiting for it to come, i will tell yall what happens when it arrives. never going to get a laptop cause it looks blingy.... and coms from hp. its bad fungshui.

    I have encountered the same issue with a dv9292. In the 2 years I have owned it, it is about to be sent to repair for the 3rd time due to this issue. On the previous 2 occasions, the motherboard has been replaced by HP for free. I was also told that the replaced motherboard has it's own 1 year warranty.

    I have just been informed that after a product has been returned 3 times for the same reason, HP can then esculate the problem with respect to offerring a replacement. I fully expect it to develop the same fault again within the year and shall be seeking a replacement when this happens.

    I'd urge anyone experiencing any similiar boot or display problems to contact HP and have it repaired for free. If you're in the UK, the telephone number is 0844 369 0369 (select the 'in warranty' option). Hope this helps.

well looks like its a no video issue
connect a external monitor to it and toggle the video over to see if you get an image to show on the external monitor.To Toggle video FN and the F4 key together to send the image to the external. if it works then you have a bad LCD screen or lcd cable. If it doesn't then it could be something else

It would be helpful if we knew the Make, Model of Laptop and the OS you are using. Most likely it just needs a little clean up/tune up using some freeware programs and speed up tips. I have 2 laptops, 6 years old, 7 years old.

I dont have internet. my PC can't find wireless connections it says something about hardware.. where can i find it?

It's likely that you need drivers for your wireless network adapter. This is definitely the case if you just reinstalled Windows.

1. Go to the Dell support sight at this link:

2. Select operating system.

3. Click the down arrow next to Network.

4. Click Download in the row that's named Dell Driver, 6/17/2010,, A36.

5. Download the driver and run it to install wireless drivers.

6. Restart computer.

Same problem with hp dv9000 recall

This is why you get an extended warranty. I never count on the manufacturer of...well, anything to cover me out of warranty. HP's website is full of this information and your warranty info is there too. Plus, take a look at the service tag on the bottom, 1 year warranty stated clearly. Never a recall, a fix on failure that was only covered for a limited time.

Acer problem

This could happen when the computer goes into power-save mode. How often does this problem occur? I would suggest 2 things

1.) upgrading the systems BIOS.

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Many times over years of use the thin canle that connects motherboard to monitor becomes loose very slightly but enough to create these type effects on screen.First easy test would simply be hooking up another monitor to rule out video card.Next would be looking up how to disassemble the plastic trim to expose the lcd cable then carefully disconnecting it then reseating it.If problem still exists wiggle the lcd cable see if it affects lines on lcd display if so then you probably need new cable if not then most likely an lcd screen.
Screens can usually be replaced in about 45 minutes by avg.person.
